Well thanks very much Mark. Surely there should be some allowance made for the fact that I'm a new player and have yet to really get to grips with the game ....

ABE show bouncebackability and demolish BER 9-0 in match 23!
Bizarre to have two 9-0 games in succession for ABE - and to win one and lose one by same 9 goal margin.

Gotta love the high scoring games on this thread.
I remember seeing a 6-0 in mid week there, but think ARB went NMR.
Do most managers opt to STALL after going 5 goals up? This may keep potential high score matches under wraps.
Did CEL not lose a league title on goal difference a couple of years ago? Food for thought.

One reason I pushed for the blow-out rule to be changed so you wouldn't have to stall when winning.
I won 7-0 in another Olmec league - no NMRs, other team played above 50%, same division. We had 21 shots on target starting with a 50% chance per minute. It was a must win game for us though.
Beagle- 02-16-2008
If it's the same match I'm thinking of, then it was a very important win, but not a "must win." Must win usually indicates that if you lose, you're done. But very important, nonetheless.
Oh, what the heck. Have a banana.
Steve Turner- 02-18-2008
You are correct, Phil, but in my mind I couldn't afford to draw.

Dull affair Brian?! what a game! ---Richard Burnett (Nairn County)
Post Game Comment boggle ---Steve Turner (Deveronvale)
Post Game Comment Now, if Montrose had a half decent Goalkeeper!? Their worries would be over... and they would still be in the SESL Cup... ---Graeme Scott (Greenock Morton)
Post Game Comment An example in the entry for "way off target" in a dictionary: Brian's prediction! That's a pretty clear illustration to understand the phrase!! ---Sumit Dahal (Stranraer)
Post Game Comment Montrose a little unlucky in that they were always the better side, sometimes by a long way, but only got 29 shots. ---Steve Turner (Deveronvale)
Post Game Comment Possibly one of the greatest ever olmec games! Well done lads! How many times does a team go 5-0 up and still manages to loose the match? ---Ashley Dowson (Dundee FC)
Post Game Comment Wow!!! ---Les Lithgo (St. Mirren)
Post Game Comment ...and a CLEAN game too! ---Ricky Hawthorn (Stenhousemuir)
Post Game Comment Fair cop, I'll hold my hand up and admit that I called this one all wrong, but I didn't see too many others going around the cup making picks. ---Brian O Farrell (Inverness)
Post Game Comment Now that said, that is the best game of Olmec I've ever witnessed that I wasn't involved in. Amazing stuff, and I think the MON P change cost them ---Brian O Farrell (Inverness)
