| Some managers just don't rate Wingers, but for me at QP I am going to experiment with EarlyCross team tactic this season. |
The experiment with EarlyCross team tactic this season continues!
Careful, next thing Early Cross will be crucified like Long Ball is just now!
Mind you, I noticed QP opted for Ball Control over table toppers GRE long ball yesterday.....
and QP wipped Findlay's long ball merchants 2-1.
Are these stats still valid from this old thread?
Is Early Cross a popular team tactic in SESL?
Yeah, it's pretty popular :-)
Wingers are described in the rule book as a MF who's converted all their DEF to OFF.
A MF only contributes 1.25 times their SL to the teams area stats (GP, DEF and OFF).
In most tactics the WG contributes 1.35 times their SL. This goes up to 1.45 times if there are 2 WG and 2 FW. Which there usually are.
With Early Cross they contribute an even more disproportionate 1.85 at least. This goes up to 1.95 times their SL if there are 2 WG and 2 FW on the pitch.
So, yeah. Early Cross is pretty popular.
In fact, the only other player who contributes so much to the team is the SW. 2*SL, but at least there's only one of them and having a sweeper means less chance of the opposition being caught off-side, so it does have a slight penalty attached.
Actually WGs are 1.30 rising to 1.40 for most tactics and 1.80 rising to 1.90 with Early Cross. And with Early Cross you lose OTF (or rather you don't bothe coaching it in the first place).
A DF will contribute 1.75 if there's a SW and 1.80 if there isn't, with the more common tactics.
• For each WG and FW on the field WG OFF multiplier is + 0.05
If you have any wingers at all, you must have at least two of those types of player.
I'm getting that to 1 winger + 1 forward as a minimum= +0.1 added to the basic 1.25 = 1.35.
2 WG + 2 FW = 4*0.05 = +0.2 added to the basic of 1.25 = 1.45.
Obviously it's higher with EC 1.75 +0.1 = 1.85 or +0.2 added gives 1.95 that the WG supplies to the team.
Am I missing something? Or is it that the rules are in slight variance to the actual game again?
You are right in that the rules say that David. I must have missed that when I checked over Dave's editing of the rules.
The MSWL and SFLSL rules state "For each additional WG and FW on the field WG OFF multiplier is + 0.05 (2 WG + 2 FW means +0.15)", but then I did edit those rules myself.
I could be wrong but I checked a few games and realised this was the case. The older set up was indeed as you state.
Thanks for clarifying Steve.
I keep forgetting you have to try and remember multiple versions of the rules!!
