Full Version : a player search engine
sesl >>SESL suggestions >>a player search engine

A thing that I believe that I add to the web :a player search engine, such that it's possible to input various criteria (position, max age, min SL, max PU etc.) hit 'search' and then get back a list of current league players matching.

Also I add a few tables, where it will appear, the palmares and the curriculum of every manager (teams, that he trained, won cups, prizes of the year ......). Regards, Fran!!!!

There used to be a page listing each teams roster on the older version of the site which helped when looking for players, but I like the idea of a player search engine of some kind even more SESL/goodluckicon.gif. Fran, have you added this to the task list for Al to take a look at?

If player is not on transfer list, what purpose will a player search prove anyway?

Nice idea, but a rather fruitless option in my opinion.

Couldn't disagree more...for example, you need a back up player asap....this happened at BUC this seson when we needed a GK...so I had to search each teams roster looking for a potential replacement...with a simple search engine this could have been done in seconds. Plus just because a player is not on the transfer list doesn't mean a manger would not consider some sort of deal.

So search engine would be able to not only check age and SL, but could also tell which teams have 3 or 4 GK's as well !!!!!!!!! SESL/wink.gif

Afterall, no team is going to sell a GK if they only have 2 on their roster.

I think if we are realistic, in order to find a spare back-up GK, you are going to have to scroll thru maybe a dozen roster squad of teams.

I genuinely cannot see a big benefit in this proposed feature. What is purpose in searching for e.g. SL25+ players, as 99% are not going to be for sale, and those that are will be on Trade List!

I think a search engine would be a great feature. There was one over on PSFA, and when I joined I searched the database for potential players, sent emails out and some managers came back interested in discussions.

Managers don't have to accept transfer offers, but an offer for an under used player may be accepted even though the player was not on the trade list.

A search filter along the lines of games< 10, age>4, SL>10
would be perfect for finding back up players especially in the 3rd division.

Add your request to TASK LIST then as Al Sellers may implement it if enough support is there, I guess.

I think trade list works well as it is.

Must say I did like this feature of the old setup. Having the team rosters you could easily search for a particular player whether it be position, age or SL. You could then make contact with the manager of any player you found to ask about the availability of the player.

Not all managers conduct their business through the transaction section and a quick email between the managers increases the participation factor and makes things a wee bit more personal, if you want..

Now is time for off-season changes, so no point moaning if no one adds it to Task List at http://www.olmec.org/sesl/
then choose "tasklist" from drop down menu top right hand side of front web page.

That's kind of handy. Nice one.
Any chance we can make it so that the search parameters don't reset after each search?
Often a manager will be looking for the same type and age of player at different SL.

Celtic- 12-30-2007
Oh, how I like this.

After using the new search facilitae now, on more than a couple of occassions, I think David's request is a good one.

Even still, its a good addition to the SESL
