SESL managers are sponsoring a real-life Dumbarton defender for season 2007/2008
Andy Geggan is a 20 year old full back who made 36 1st team starts last season. He was previously in the youth team at Livingston, and after another season at Dumbarton plans to turn full time in summer 2008.
Andy Geggan is thought to be good enough to make it at SPL level within next 2 years and Kilmarnock and Motherwell are keeping tabs on his progress.
A player bio will be posted on the Dumbarton official web site next month, but the link below confirms SESL as co-player sponsors.
A signed blue away shirt will be presented to one lucky sesl manager who donates, at the end of the 2007/08 season.
Career stats to date:
2005/06 Livingston youth team 2006/07 Dumbarton: 36 starts, 1 goal

I remember watching the Celtic v Dumbarton scottish cup tie in January this year, and despite the 4-0 loss, the Dumbarton defence looked well organised, and the right back held him own well against fast and tricky wingers at Celtic, like Nakamura and McGeady.
Found this match report here, although does not make mention to Geggans great game.
Just want to say that this is a brilliant undertaking/jesture.
I look forward to taking an active interest in Dumbarton and seeing how Geggan in particular progresses.
I notice there were comments elsewhere that some of you are already in discussions to attend a match or two and lend support. I think thats a great idea and (providing there's a wee bit notice) I'd be up for a trip over the border.... and may even provide an opportunity to imbibe some local culture

Found these photos of Dumbarton 2006/07 young player of the year Andy Geggan.
He is No.2 right back, but website photos are copyrighted so I cannot post them here, just the links to view them online.
Great work out of the young lad, getting the justice in early.

I've just read the report, and I know I may be biased now, but I'm really proud that this website is associated with him.
I know as a Toon Supporter we're not associated with defensive ability - but I'd love to think that this lad can progress and end up at somewhere like Newcastle - bringing a trophy to the Toon would make ANY player a hero. Come on Andy, I reckon you can make it son!
Anyone planning on going to a game PLEASE let me know - I'd love to pop up for a weekend... football, beer AND an added interest in a SESL sponsored player sounds like an ideal weekend to me!
Our lad got sent off recently and nobody posted about it.

I did mention it on the blog - it was against ARB

Okay missed that. Sorry.
How was the young lad doing, and was it a fair and just (sticking up for his mates or just plain getting stuck in) red card?
Les- 08-29-2007
It was a straight red for a 'late' challenge.
His manager thought it was worth a yellow - although he would have still been sent off as he had already been booked anyway.

SESL Trip to DUM - SAT 3rd NOV!!!!!!!!
With the SESL sponsoring Andy Geggan at Dumbarton, Ricky (STE), Paul (ALO) & I (BUC) are having an away day to the Rock to watch the home game on Saturday 3rd Nov vs. Arbroth (KO 3 pm). We'll be stayin in Dumbarton but will be taking in the nightlife (i.e. drinkin in as many bars as humanly possible!!!) in Glasgow following the game. It would be great meet up with other SESL managers if possible either at the game or in Glasgow after.....so if anyone's interested let us know. Hopefully Mr Geggan will refrain from picking up any more red cards in the near future!!!.
Dan (BUC - Div 3 bound!)
Hearts- 10-07-2007
Good luck with the trip to DUM match to see Geggan.
Sorry I'll miss it.
Gretna- 10-29-2007
SESL sponsoring Andy Geggan seems to be a regular number 2 at Dumbarton this season.
Enjoy the trip to see him play this Saturday BUC and others.
