I have today asked the panel to consider my appeal that the blowout SM
suffered was unavoidable and not the fault of the SM manager.

As per the rules :
To discourage managers from fielding lineups that are too weak, whenever a club loses by 5 or more goals, that club is said to have been "blown out".

This was not a "weak" lineup ;The SM team was the strongest possible with several players playing on aggressive. I even played 5 in DF SESL/awhack.gif

I appreciate the fact that I could have played more in MF , but if I just sit back
each week and don't try to win games, then every manager sees me as cannon fodder. (they do anyway ) SESL/jester.gif

Can I have my CP back , PLEASE SESL/abigcry.gif

Come on Gabbi U know U love SM.

SM have my vote.

While any team that plays boring Long Ball more than 50% of the time rarely gets my sympathy, the only main criticism of SM you can make is he was actually too catious with his 5-2-3 L line-up.

Man-marking would have helped and Robin never spotted Yoav was building up his roster slowly ready to unleash at any moment - and SM got the full 3-3-4 formation blast!

7-2 maybe flattered STJ, and besides, which of the mid-30 SL FW would SM have man-marked anyway!?

SM had 3 players aggressive so did not lie down, so Robin deserves his CP back.

I just noticed INV 7-0 DUU

Another Long ball team as DUU use that tactic a third of the time, but DUU had 5 players on SL20+ that featured, so this appears a freak result.

.

Meanwhile QOS 5-0 ABE

Blowout here is fair as ABE got what they deserved.
Schoolboy error to play Zambrotta SL29 as an atatcking WG rather than OOP as a MF or even a DF.
To be fair to RossH, at least ABE never play Long Ball though!

DUU had 3 SL25+ players not playing and with the team I have perhaps he should have at least played 1 more DF. 7-0 is a bit freaky though when 2 were free kicks with a ref biased -3 (in DUU favour).

Hopefully I won't blow out any more teams (hate to cause a loss of resources to teams that really need them) in the future as I'll tone down the OFF when winning well.

Hi,

I'm afraid Aberdeen's high risk EL tactics, which I believe have seen us punch above our weight for many seasons, will always mean there are times when we're forced to field a weaker lineup. Be boring if we all used the same gameplan wouldn't it? Anyway, this, coupled with the tactical error with the WG means that I'm not complaing too much about the penalty.

Cheers!

Robin has a point, after all he was playing his T11. But what can one do when facing the mighty Saints? SESL/sunshine.gif
All must bow before me, resistance is futile SESL/jester.gif

STJ votes to give the old chap his CPs back. SESL/goodluckicon.gif

I am not sure I unserstand Colin's reservations in regard to playing Long ball with 3 forwards. What if all the good forwards you've got are 3 in number? Should you avoid the tactic at all times, or play a 4th man up front even if he's complete rubbish? Obviously someone never used the notorious 2DF-5MF-3FW Longball (a real killer against ball control)

Got to say I think a blow out was a little bit harsh on my DUU side this week. OK I didn't play my top 11, but it certainly wasn't my bottom 11 either!

I'm not the sort of team that plays stall for an entire match just to minimise the damage, I genuinely like to try and have a go, I knew tha Inverness were likely to be far stranger than me (how could I not?), but all sorts of strange things could have occurred....

He could have fielded a weaker side
Injuries
Sendings off

All these things could have affected the game with the outcome being different, possession was fairly equal between the two teams so it just came down to shots and those put away, as it turned out I was more than a bit unlucky I think.

I could have fielded a bit more defence admittedly, but it's not my policy to field players down to 0 EL, as anyone can see by looking at my match reports. I'll do it very occasionally like in the cups, but I prefer my players fit and healthy.

Anyway, there's my 2p worth, just thought I was a bit unlucky to lose by so much and I reckon if the game was rerun the result might be quite different.

Well it wouldn't be a 7-0 if it was rerun. It was a less than strict referee that was biased in your favour but gave me an extra free kick than average (I don't know statistics so don't quote this as gospel). I scored 2 goals from 3 free kicks and also a goal from a corner and my SET is only 13. You scored no goals from 3 free kicks with a SET of 10.

I reckon the GP/DEF/OFF values in the game should have given you 5 shots but you got 0. In the first 53 minutes I should have got 9 shots and got 6.

I played such a strong side because I expected stronger from DUU and expected a couple of nearly 30 SL FW.

I got very lucky this week with the 7-0 win, a 4-0 win over FAL with a weaker side and daylight robbery in the Cup with 6 reserves.

How can someone who uses the stall tactic 35% of the time label another team boring????
