No, it isn't very nice. But after being really chuffed about winning the league I then read his press last night where, perhaps for the 4th time, he moans about my 12 men on the field against his team. And everytime he insinuates that it was deliberate and therefore I am a cheat.
The fact that my 12th man was a forward and so had absolutely no bearing on my defence and how many goals he scored (one) and that I scored two goals from free-kicks, and so would have won anyway, doesn't appear to matter. And the fact that I stalled at 4-1 when there was still half an hour to go - where I genuinely believe that with 11 men I still would have won at least 4-1 also doesn't appear to matter.
I accepted his first outburst when he first found out because he would have been angry (as I was for letting it happen), but despite my apology here and in the press he has continued to attack me.
From his press, "MOT has no doubt that they would have won this match if INV had not used the 12th man, thus keeping them in contention."
Wrong.
And..
"However, MOT still considers it a compliment that another team feels it has to use extra players on the pitch against us to try and beat us. It does say something that INV is still in contention for top spot in D-1 and they got away with using an extra player."
Maybe it was tongue in cheek, but from earlier press, "I have no use for any manager that intentionally plays a 12th player.."
Tell you what guys - if one other manager genuinely thinks that I won the league because of the 12th man then I will resign from Inverness, and maybe SESL as well, at the end of the season.
