As the reasonably new manager of Ross County I thought I'd better poke my head in here. Much of the predictions for us seems to point to a mid-table position. At the moment cup involvement means that this is our best case scenario. My experiences since taking over at Ross indicate that involvement in the Cecil cup is a conscious decision that that needs to be taken and if you do go down that route then it probably means you have to write off any chance of promotion.

Having a look at the league at this point means that sides are roughly where they will probably be come the end of the season. At the moment Ayr are possibly surprise leaders but seem to be the prefect advocates for the long ball game. Over 90% of the time they have played this formation and are averaging almost 4 goals a game. Not bad for a side who don't even make the top 10 for average skill. Whether this can be maintained remains to be seen.

How things will end up is still difficult to predict though. Stehousemuir seem to have a very balanced squad with their defence doing particularly well so far conceding only 8 goals. 3rd placed Berwick have 2 great wingers but maybe lack something defensively and also could probably do with 1 more top striker. There's then a bit of a gap back to Buckie who like Berwick are very strong on the wings but are lacking a top keeper and this is reflected in their 3rd worst in the league goals against tally. Like Berwick again top strikers also are a bit thin on the ground. Just outside the top places are Livi and Albion who have plenty of weapons at their disposal. Albion possibly should be doing slightly better but things may change as their new manager becomes more accustomed to the job. Livi have a top notch strike force but again defence lets them down and at present have conceded more than they have scored.

Of the teams outside it's difficult to see anyone breaking in to this top 6. At this point my tip for the title sits with STE who have the best squad all round. It will be interesting to see if AYR can maintain results when ageing hits their strike force. I'll go for BER to grab 3rd with ALB sneaking the final automatic promotion spot.

I haven't had too much of a chance to look at the bottom of the table so won't say to much other than to mention the 2 bottom sides. Of the 2, 1 is underachieving and the other actually doing better than they should. Hamilton who are bottom actually have a not bad squad and should really have been able to score more than 9 this season. Airdire on the other hand I'm sorry to say look doomed. With the defense they have it's a shock that they don't sit bottom but I'm pretty sure that's where they will end up.

ladies and gent's and Ham.

After a long wait, the STE Press office has restored power (i have a net connection in new home, albeit a dial up connection!) and press staff have been furiously writing the oppinions of the masses abotu Division 2. Not such a preview at this stage, but certainly a preview of whats left.

So whats the overwhelming oppinion around the Stenny camp??

... 'We're gona win the league, we're gona win the league, so now you gona belieeeeeveee us, we're gona win the league' ....

'Easy' SESL/clap.gif 'Easy' SESL/clap.gif 'Easy' SESL/clap.gif 'Easy'

Im not going to moan ona bout the abuse division 2 has taken of late, nows not the time, lets just get to it. Division 2 is going to be a cracker of a finish.

Stenny have openly (on more than one occasion) spoke out at their rivals, with boss Ricky Hawthorn Demanding the Division 2 title comes to STE this season.

The old timer at Berwick would like nothing better that to take the title on his return, as unlikely as it!!

Ayr are on a flyer but must be brought down to earth, and STE are the team to do it!!

ALB are still in a postition to make a push but the boss is sure to make a hash of it, the chances of them proving a roblem to STE at the end of the season? little to none!

And of course there is "who are ya?" HAM Boss who still declares he's in with a shout of something!??! who knows what he's trippin' on!?

For now, watch STE

Division 2 title race may have been turned on its head following Saturday's
Ayr Utd (AYR) vs. Stenhousemuir (STE) game.

Ricky may have tried to play an age 0 out of position, but the extra MF body may have secured the points and countered the predictable AYR long ball play.

If STE can keep a strong MF, then the league is their's, and Ricky can lift his 1st sesl silverware after being in SESL from almost the very beginning.

As for the foot of Div 2, SRA & HAM are too good to be relegated, but it is SO close down there.

Div 2 has had its knockers this season, but it is an exciting division in my opinion.

Its Game on!!!!!

Its been the talk of the Press this week. What could have been a title decider if AYR had pulled of the result which would have convinced everyone that their run at the title was far from over. STE however have answered all by taking a full 6 points from 1st and 3rd in the title race and ending BERs chances of weinning the title and relighting STE's hopes of silverware this season.
Many have said that AYRs title push is over and STE will stroll home from here. But STE boss Ricky Hawthorn is not yet convnced, although STEs odds have been slashed i cant help but acknowledge the work AYR have done so far and am still worried AYR could pick up form again. AYR still sit 1 point ahead of us at the end of a disasterous week for them so its up to them whether they throw it away or not.

The race is on!

AS a former DIV2 manager (been there this season) and likely to be in div2 next season I would like to post a few facts.

AT present as the league stands :

AYR have done well to get where they are , but will need to play like ABE if they want to get into the 1st division. Likewise with RR , fantastic achievement so far , but will it last?

Rickeeeeeeeee, STE manager is in danger of promotion and possibly winning the title , will we get an ear bashing if he does win the league! Will little BER stop him ? They have a chance.

Underachieving are definitely ALB with top SL of 405 as are some of the teams in the DROP zone. Airdrie United with the lowest SL are playing somewhat like my own team and looked doomed but never give up on Kevin as he has picked up 7 points out of the last 15.

Let me be the first to congratulate AYR on holding on at the end to a great Division 2 title race. Best one ive seen yet! Well done!
