The Board of Dundee United Football Club have confirmed one of the worst kept secrets in the SESL today, namely that manager Craig Mcpherson would be moving on to pastures new at the end of this season. Having taken United to one of their best recent finishes it's with sadness that the board announce this news. The club would like to thank Craig for his hard work and for the very healthy position he leaves the club in and wish him well with the new challenges he seeks.
The board have also announced that they have moved quickly to line up a replacement. Despite great consistency on the field, regularly finishing in the league's top 8, it unfortunate that this has not been replicated in the managers position over the last few seasons. It is possible this lack of continuity may be responsible for United's lack of silverware and as a result the board would like to announce current Ross County manager Mark Boland as a long term replacement to Craig. As a lifelong United supporter it is hoped that Boland's appointment will provide a stable platform to allow the club to make a real attempt at providing trophies in the coming seasons. Whilst not having his best season last year the club feel that Boland, who sits 9th out of all active coaches for total wins, has the ability and experience to drive the club forward and achieve some tangible success.
Boland took time out from his cup preparations to issue a very brief statement.
" First of all I'd like to say that it's with deep regret that I'm announcing my departure from Ross County with the club having just been relegated. There is only one job that would have tempted me to leave the club in it's current predicament and managing my boyhood heroes was an opportunity I could not pass up. I am keenly aware that although United are one of the top clubs in the SESL the fans still keenly await a 1st trophy success and that is something that I would love to provide."

As Mark Boland is a real life DUU fan. this seems like a marriage made in heaven.
Best wishes in quest for silverware at DUU.
PS, time to change your avator image!

Still got 1 game to go. Don't want to turn up in my United strip just yet

Good luck at DUU then Mr Boland.
I am still waiting on being 'slotted' in to my new team role, having declined FOR and ROS offers so far.

Oooh "declined", too big for those jobs are we, or are they too tough for you?

And this comment from a boss who abandoned GRE mid season - perhaps fearing they would not make promotion. Bet you are kicking yourself now?
I am looking for a challenge to take over a team like Steve did with DEV these last 6 months.

You sure know your stuff!!

I'm still waiting!
