I am in a minority of one; I like the dirty team award. DPs are essentially a random element of the game. If you win this then you have been the unluckiest and a small reward is a nice compensation for all those times your star striker was sat in the stands.

You could 'go for it' by playing dirty or aggressive, but it'd totally mess up your squad rotation, and as you point out, half your team would be suspended for the run-in. It is meant to be a fairly random award. The winners of this and the fair play award are probably going to fall to completely random teams. Also, as is rather important, you can't possibly win both of them, which helps keep down the total one manager can win. Which was rather one of the main points when Mark asked me to redo awards.

I have a little suggestion to make.
Fun awards suggestions (10k award or something of that amount could be higher/lower but I think people get the picture)
player awards:
most minutes played Lowest SL of a goal scorer Worst Shooter Dirtiest player worst injury worst GK (most goals conceded or worst rating)
Team awards
Worst goal/shots prcentage most penalties conceded most straight red cards dirtiest team Team with the lowest goalking fewest shots allocated most injuries fewest mom awards
For most of these - the worst teams would get a little fame for their contribution in the league.
It would add to the banter between managers - "Remember when my SL 5 SW scored against you Oli, that was fun " "Yeah I remember it well - it cost me the league title in season 59"

Here's my typical response...
1. No need for these changes. 2. All for having fun in the game but these changes reward failure. 3. The one exception to the rule is James (RR) suggestion above that top DP gets a small prize. Yes, it is change, and yes, I support that. Actually, I was the first manager ever to recommend that prize many, many years ago in MSWL.
This calls for a banana.
