Can someone tell me where the STRIKERS were at the penalty shootout vs Portugal?
OK, I know J Defoe was bizarrely sat at home when he so clearly should have been in Germany in the squad, but the only striker on pitch at end was Peter Crouch. Why did he not take the first penalty kick?
I bet even young Theo Walcott would have had the bottle - had he been given the chance. What manager in the world has ever taken a player to a world cup he has never even seen play!?
I felt frustrated no end with Sven, so heaven knows what the 100% English guys must feel?

As far as I can tell Sven picked the five supposedly best penalty takers that were left on the pitch from what he had seen in training. Believe it or not thats the reason he brought on Carragher with only a minute left, apparently in training hes one of the best penalty takers.

Its difficult having to take a penalty at the best of times, but to then have to re-take one has to be a nightmare. do I go the same side, height.
What I liked was that Robinson stayed still for Postiga who chipped it done the middle 2 years ago. We were discussing what he'd do this time.

For me, these guys would have better shots and more bottle
Ashley Cole John Terry Peter Crouch
and as for Lampard taking first kick! Never mind what Sven saw in training - we have seen in every WC game so far Lampard has had woeful shots by the dozen, so he would never be in my top 5 takers on his current form.
Sven is an idiot.
Not sure McClaren will be much better.
