Last weekend the draw for Euro 2008 was made. Some tough groups were formed, with Holland in the toughest of all.

What do you think about the draw.

Some nice ties are about to be battled:

Holland - Italy
Italy - France
Holland - France
Germany - Poland
Germany - Austria
Austria - Poland

I know that you scottish and english folks out there will have difficulties looking at Euro 2008 as both nations were eliminated in group stage. But these matches are ones to watch.

True Marc, some great matches to look forward to in Summer 2008.

Italia and Nederland ought to progress from that group.

France are perhaps a spent force, while Germany will no doubt somehow make the semi-finals, but they are in decline too.
Look how poor their league champions Stuttgart did in Champions League, for example.

These are the top 3 matches based on initial glance.

Looking forward to this summer tournament now.

Are the stadiums in Austria & Switzerland big enough for this euro 2008 championship?

Tournament shoudl really be held in big countries that can cope with this size of event really.

All this from the www.euro2008.com website....

Austria first:
Vienna's Ernst-Happel-Stadion will stage the UEFA EURO 2008™ final in front of 50,000 spectactors.

Klagenfurt's Wörthersee Stadion is a 30,000-capacity multifunctional stadium based on the model of the St. Jakob-Park in Basel.

Salzburg extended from 18000 to 30,000

Innsbruck extended from 15K to 30K also

Now Switzerland:
Basel 33,433
Berne: The Wankdorf (fnar fnar) stadium 30,000
Geneva: Stade de Geneve 30,000
Zurich: Letzigrund stadion 30,000

So all stadia meet the minimum requirement for hosting the games. which is (you guessed it) 30,000.

Frankly I think any country in Europe should be able to host it if they can provide grounds with minimum requirements. Keeping it for the "big" countries is patrician rubbish.

Spain are unbeaten for nearly 2 years, so have to be a favourite for Euro 2008.

That run includes wins over 1. Argentina, 2. Italy, 3. Germany, 4. England.....
So THREE good teams! ph34r.gif

Ha ha, very witty. SESL/yay.gif

Holland v Russia quarter final 2nd half just on now, and should be a cracker with both teams attacking minded.

I'll predict a Desmund scoreline. 2-2 (tu-tu)!

And how is it Germany rarely impress but always get to latter stages of tournaments!

Not a bad tip in the end though was it? SESL/cheerleader.gif
