Todays news says the Premier League are considering approving an extra game for each team to be played abroad!

Not sure how to do hyperlinky things on here, but the official spiel is here:

the Football Supporters Federation (I didn't know they existed either, but I suppose this group reflects 'us') haven't been slow to respond. They have a poll up and running asking what the fans think here;

I've added my vote and it currently sits at 96% against the idea!!! Pretty one sided.

I've got a few mates who take great pride in the fact that they follow their club to every game - home and away - wonder how they fancy a possible trip to Australia, America, Asia or wherever in January (probably the time of year when everyone has least amount of disposable income!)

Worryingly - all 20 premiership clubs voted in favour. So its all just about the money then?

Anyone here in the 6% that thinks its a good idea - I'd be interested in hearing your views.

Interesting idea.

Some will say the Premier League are 'selling their soul'
but I think it gives a mid season boost in January and could be quite an event with all 10 matches being shown live around the world over a weekend.

Another idea only concerned with greed. How often do players and managers complain about too many games - so they want to add another fixture one which the majority of the long suffering supporters will not be able to attend.

Finally who abroad is going to want to watch the exciting match-up of Wigan vs Fulham. No one in Wigan wants to go so why would football fans in New York or any where else drag themselves to see it.

The premier league is suffering from delusions of grandeur

Mr Raith is spot on with his comments above.

Seems FIFA President is going to block any games abroad like this anyway.

Obviously not much interest in it even judging by the apathy within this poll SESL/confused.gif
