HAM Challenge MET SESL/goodluckicon.gif

Come come now Vinny. You are acting like a tool.

"I challenge Vincent to go and find a friend, or go onto soccer fans forums, and recruit a newbie for SESL this week."

What part of this week are you not understanding?

You sure aint the sharpist tool in the box. Blame the ref then, eh.

I honestly don't understand your point? I’ll do my best to answer you points in a simple and reasonable manner:

SESL Commish said earlier on this topic:
"Lets see how it works out, and if existing managers have to work hard with a newbie to earn their 3 CP after a month, then this is helping me and SESL I think."

This is true, but as I’ve already said in the before it’s the ‘Fast Tracking’ of new managers recruited by existing manager that’s solving the waiting list problem and saving Mark time, not actually the ‘Finders Fee’ at all. I had assumed there already was a ‘Fast Track’ system. This was the confusion between myself and the Elgin manager. The ‘Finders Fee’ actually increases Marks workload, as he has to monitor new managers. The Elgin manager, despite our disagreements, seems to be an honest and reasonable manager, and if he had read my post, I suspect he would agree.

’Perhaps one can conclude from the HAM rants above that it does not matter if 1 CP or 100 CP is on offer. HAM has no intention of bothering to bring a newbie to SESL to help out (his "only motivation" remember) and he will rant and rant to try stop anyone else getting their hands on any CP he seems to want all for himself in this game.’

I had assumed what you meant was that I simply can’t be bothered to introduce new managers or help them out, and wanted to stop anyone else from being reward because of this or that the existing motivation for bringing in new managers or helping Mark was not there. My last post, where I showed that I had indeed recruited and helped without reward; and was to answer these points specifically, which I thought this was all about.

I now see the ‘HAM Challenge’ is not about vindicating the ‘Finders Fee’ at all, but instead a personally challenge on the semantics of what I said earlier; specifically my ‘only motivation’ is SESL running as best it can and for Mark to have and easier time. Put simply, if there were a ‘Finders Fee’, would I forgo this reward as the good of the SESL is my ‘only motivation’.

The quick and short answer is no. I concede this point to you. I could of course lie and win this argument, by saying I would, but the truth is I wouldn’t. However, once you’re aim is to win an argument, irrespective of truth, rational debate goes out of the window, and this is obviously not what we want. It was before your time, but the very first 'end of season' summaries for teams were actually written by me for no reward (I did the whole Second Division), later Mark rewarded managers for this and whilst I would do this for no reward, I did take it. Simply because I though it was fair to get the same as everyone else and I could use the resources for my team. So you, you are quite right, my ‘only motivation’ is not the SESL and Mark, but also enjoying the game doing well. What I meant was that my 'only motivation' for arguments and suggestions, was the welfare of the SESL, which I had assume was obvious, otherwise I would simply offer to be an assistant commish, but I apologise for this confusion.

Many managers probably think as you, that I just don’t want other managers to get the reward, but my concern was that managers would recruit for the wrong reasons. I apologise if I am wrong, but the way you keep referring to the CP reward seems to confirm these fears. I realise this debate has obviously made me unpopular, but this is irrelevant. I simply put forward my opinion, which obviously may, or may not be right. If other managers believe I have selfish motives, I suspect I can do little to change this, all I can do is say what I think.

Oh, and lets not talk about ‘sharpest tool in the box’ and the ref. We’ve been rivals with Celtic ever since Manager Findlay joined the game, and even he acknowledges we were unlucky…

Must have taken you most of the afternoon to type out your reply above there!

I am actually a bit embarrassed for you as your true colours are coming out now you need admit you have no intention of doing anything to help SESL fill vacant places now.

To conclude, imagine if you have scored a huge own goal by declining the HAM challenge and the Commish has to then up the FF to 6 CP as incentive to bring in the replacement managers needed!

What a hoot that would be, and the fault of HAM and his selfish ways. Learn your lesson HAM, and give this debate up. You have been shown up after all your nonsense over "only motivation".

You are too lazy to help bring another new manager in now - pure and simple. You could prove us wrong, but your only motivation appears to be to stop other teams getting CP any way you can. Sad really.

Come on.
What do you want from Vincent?
Give the guy a break, will you? It's not like he's trying to rip you off getting the 3 CPs reward.

SeslDotNet- 10-25-2004
Enough is enough guys.

Inverness - yellow card for personal abuse to Vincent. user posted image

Hamilton - you are flogging a dead horse. Your energy would be better spent recruiting a newbie to SESL. user posted image

Topic suspended on system for 3 YEARS,
so you cannot reply until then!

SeslDotNet- 11-09-2007
So....... 3 years are up. tongue.gif

Time for me to 'flog a dead horse' and resurrect this idea.

I need existing managers to bring in to SESL enthusiastic managers who will be active on Blog and Journal and Forum.

Again, as 3 or 4 years ago, I will offer up a 3CP team boost, or a +2 OTF team boost to the current manager introducing a newbie.

You will need to talk the new recruit thru lineup orders and the basics of the game and help them for first few weeks to get started in SESL.

cheers
Mark

Les- 11-19-2007

just got my 3cp....so well worth doing this, a few emails to get steve going and some MSN conversions has seen him sorted!

count me in for help any other new managers!!

David- 01-07-2008
I wasn't here when the 3 CPs was mentioned (back in 2004 it seems by reading the correspondence above), but I have just been paid 9 CPs by the Commish and am very grateful for them.

They will be used to train up my old soldiers (well, the ones I am keeping, at least!)

Well worth the effort to interest some newcomers and help to train them - hope they remember me as they then pass my team in the League...:-)

I've just had a read through this old thread, yes, I am VERY bored, some of the posts of epic proportions.
SESL/say_nowt.png
What ever happened to the old HAM manager Vincent?
He left or was asked to leave just after I started but he seems like he was one of the more shy and quiet of the past SESL managers.....NOT
SESL/say_nowt.png SESL/say_nowt.png
Also a wee shout out to remember another couple of SESL old boys in Yoav and the once mighty Gaberrelli

Good point, Graeme, reason is probably because I don't push the Forum to a newbie immediately.
His main concerns are the running of the game, team, rules etc etc and his contributions to the Blogs and Journals to satisfy Mark's minimum and to earn filthy lucre for his own team.

Craig (ARB) asks a lot of questions via email and will be a very good member of SESL. Darren (ELG) seems very quiet and says little so I am having to work on him just to get him to ask the basic questions, but the blogs etc will come, whilst George (FOR) has had some private problems recently but will be fully up for some in put when the season opens.

Will confess I don't go into the Forum very often as I feel the front page has what I want/need to play the game, and sometimes Forums (I am talking ones I deal with in real football leagues) don't bring out the best in some of the comments that appear.
