Quality!

My Bordeaux ran adrift last month, and due to other commitments I never got back into, it, with some spare time I have been eagerly awaiting a new challenge.

This will do me right up until Christmas.

Palermo you say, will have to look them up for some info!

Gabbarelli- 12-01-2005
It had been 31 years since Palermo’s distinctive pink and black shirts adorned Italian football’s main stage before 2004 and they made quite an entrance. President Maurizio Zamparini, already a familiar figure from his time at Venezia, has pumped millions into a side that can now rival the top clubs.

The Sicilians are passionate people and the scenes in the city when promotion was confirmed will stay long in the memory. In one of the poorest areas of the country, the club was declared bankrupt in 1986 and this step back into the limelight could even revitalise the local economy.

The club are looking to make their stay in the top-flight a permanent one, especially as they have been relegated from Serie A on sevens occasions in the past – with only Bari, Brescia, Atalanta and Genoa having dropped out more often

I believe the defence is Palermo's strong point, Zaccardo DR, Grosso DL and Barzagli DC I think have all been capped by the national team.

Argentian winger Santana looks quality aswell.

Sure to be a few other gems, in there, hope so as with only 1 signing allowed it could be tough otherwise!

Elgin_Boss- 12-03-2005
OK, I'll play.

> 99 GUARDALBEN Matteo

Why is the GK got a squad number of 99 ? SESL/jester.gif

Why is the GK got a squad number of 99 ? Probably cos he is utter pants !

I will fire this Football Manager game up on my PC tonight.

Keen on a Newcastle challenge next year like someone mentioned on another thread today.

Steven Taylor is WORLD CLASS but Boumsong is a peace of **** ...
A vintage buy is Jaquas Faty - he is wonder CB

A vintage buy is Jaquas Faty - he is wonder CB

End of season 1: finished 4th in serie A. Remarkable run of draws.

W20 D13 L5

S2 signings:
- Lisandro Lopez, ARG, age 23, SC, 3.5m
- Jacques Faty, FRA, age 22, DC DM, 5m

Gabbarelli- 12-12-2005
Finished S1 also.

Ended up 8th in Serie A - sneaked into a UEFA Cup spot for S2.

Beaten by Roma in Italian Cup Semi final.

Lost to Leverkusen in 2nd knockout stage of UEFA cup.

Signing for S1 was Lukas Zelenka from Sparta Prague for £4m.

For S2, joined by his fellow Czech, Tomas Sivok, DM from Sparta Prague also for £3.8m. Also signed Uruguayan Carlos Diogo right midfielder from Real Madrid for £3.1m.

Bigger clubs starting to hover around Grosso, Barzagli and Barone.

Sold 4 players, and bizarrely Napoli have bought them all? Anybody else had this?

Alo Boss- 12-14-2005
Ok here i go, i know i'm a bit late starting but i'll catch up with you lot just you wait and see. Looks like you guys have been doing pretty well with Palermo so it coud be a hard act to follow.

Anyway, better late than never i suppose. SESL/clap.gif

SeslDotNet- 12-18-2005
Inter, Juve and Roma just cannot be beaten.
Inter hit 98 points to our 69.

End of season 2: finished 4th in serie A. Again !

Remarkable run of draws. Again ! wub.gif

W18 D15 L5

Fabio Grosso is main man with Av Rating 7.61
However you need play him between defence and midfield on the left to get best out of him.

So I am playing with just 2 DC, the Grosso WBL and a WBR.
1 DMC (Faty signing)
3 AM (R, C, L), and 2 SC. Goals a plenty (at both ends!) SESL/header.gif

Alo Boss- 12-19-2005
Just finished Season 1

Finished 3rd in Serie A behind Juve and Inter
Italian Cup Semi knocked out by AC Milan
Uefa Cup Runners up, beaten by Atletico Madrid in the final

Signing season 1 was Leo Messi for 3.8m from Barca

Key Players have been Brienza and pretty much all the defence. Having massive problems keeping alot of players happy as they want to move to bigger clubs, trying to hold strong and hope that i can win something to change their minds.

On to season 2!!!

PartickThistleNil- 12-19-2005
3rd in league is amazing achievement ALO.

While getting to uefa final perhaps shows how weak that tournament is these days. Time for a UEFA revamp perhaps?

I have just fired up a FM game, so I'll get cracking and report back any progress.

Seems most taking the league by storm, although Gabareli appears to be keeping a dignified silence on this thread lately!

Giving you slowcoaches a chance to catch up!

Already mentioned I had finished S1, not got much of S2 underway as others were just starting challenge.

So less whining and get on with it Partick!! SESL/Moonie.gif
