SeslDotNet- 10-18-2006
How about Leeds as opening FM07 challenge. Go for about 3 seasons and see who can restore some pride to this sleeping giant?
No rule restrictions for this one - sign how ever many you wish (just try not bankrupt Leeds for a 2nd time!)
After that, maybe a Scottish challenge (Aberdeen maybe?),
and then a continental challenge like one of the relegated Italian clubs?
Alo Boss- 10-18-2006
Sounds good to me. I think it will be a good challenge especially seeing as though we'll all be getting used to the new bits in the game. Just need to wait for my copy to arrive now!!
SeslDotNet- 10-18-2006
Leeds currently sit 23rd in the Championship in real life, so this may well be quite a challenge in FM!
Here is the team from their most recent match - 2 DC, 1 MC, 1 FW the priority new signings needed?
Leeds: Sullivan, Kelly, Butler, Kilgallon, Crainey,
Douglas, Derry, Johnson (Westlake 90),
Healy (Foxe 57), Cresswell (Blake 79), Moore.
Fraserburgh- 10-20-2006
My copy of FM07 arrived yesterday and started a Leeds game. Board expect the title. Kelly DR and Crainey DL look OK, and Sullivan in nets. Steve Stone in midfield attracting bids but worth only 12k game says! Healy up front is good. OK side overall but title victory a big ask.

I started Leeds on FM2007 last night.
1.2M is transfer budget, and Scott Brown signed from Hibs already as midfield is a little weak.
Kuqi from Palace was in negotiations, but then GK Sullivan got injured and only back-up is a loaned GK. No GK in reserves at all, and just 2 youths, so gonna need money for a decent GK - Jesper Christiansen from Copenhagen for about 600k an option.
Gavin Rothery from youth team did well in pre season friendlies, so could be a top prospect at AMR.
Playing 442 so far, and game plays is very QUICK which is good.

absolutly gutted my order from play arrvied yesterday! however it arrived in aberdeen and this weekend im back in nairn! so cant get started until monday!
Fraserburgh- 10-22-2006
Going OK but attracting players is a problem due to wage restrictions.
Shortlisted 10 Championship players and have signed 2 of them
GK Marton Fulop, QPR, value 750k
DF Glen Loovens, Cardiff, 350k
DF Jason Shackell, Norwich, 600k
DF Efe Sodje, Southend, 100k
MF Inigo Idiakez, Southampton, 500k
MF Simon Francis, Southend, 100k
MF Carlos Edwards, Luton, 1m
FW Billy Paynter, Southend, 500k
FW Brian McBride, Southampton, 100k
FW Jon Parkin, Hull, FW 200k

got my FM07 copy yesterday and naturally started the challenge immediatly. So far its going horrible, keep getting beat with a few victories here and there. Started so well beating Southampton 2-1 at home to occupy 3rd place after first game, went downhill since then. I went on a 5 game losing streak in the league and finally managed a 2-0 vitory over a 10-man cardiff quickly followed by a 1-1 draw away to Barnsley!
Signed a few players but most are doing crap!
Norridean Naybet - Free
Vassilas Tsartes - Free
Duncan Ferguson - Free
Ian Black(Inverness) - 80k
Claudio Reyna(Man City) - 90k
Steven Naysmith(Kilmarnock) - 350k
Lee Barnard(Tottenham) - Loan
Dont think i will manage promotion however stranger things have happened!
Richard B- 10-25-2006
Right scraped the challenge i kept getting beat! Now playing as Tottenham Hotspur at the end of november! 3rd place in the league, went on 6 game winning streak only loss recently in league was Man U at Old Trafford(3-2). Won all of my Euro Cup games so far with relative ease so think could be on for the trophy only blip so far was getting humped 5-1 by blackburn in league cup but that was at tailend of my winning streak.
Signed:
Luis Boa Morte - 8.25M from Fulham
Aidan Mcgeady - 5M from Celtic
Mattew Killgallon - 1.5M from Leeds
I think thats the only players i have signed so far! Star has been my strikers! Berbatov, Mido and Defoe have all been excellent as has Zokora, King and Boa Morte. The only disapointment has been Robbie Keane as hes been poop!
After i have got used to the new game i will then start playing in the challenges!
Gretna- 10-27-2006
Got FM07 on Monday and enjoyed 2 evenings on it so far.
Like NAI, started the challenge immediatly, but keep getting beaten.
Turned corner a little now with a win in every other game roughly but losing a lot of goals late on in matches so fitness maybe a problem at Leeds. Easier to win away from home too.
Duncan Ferguson - Free (now worth just 80k)
Claudio Reyna (Man City) - 120k (now worth 150k)
Noel Hunt (Dundee Utd) - 850k (now worth 1m).
SeslDotNet- 10-30-2006
Promoted Leeds to Premiership. Champions of the Championship.
Signed:-
GK - Jesper Christiansen from Copenhagen
DF - David Weir from Everton
MF - Scott Brown signed from Hibs
MF - Sebastian Larsson from Arsenal on loan
FW - Duncan Ferguson - free
Key again for me was morale morale morale.
Praise the players BEFORE the game, at half time, and again after the match (sympathise with them if defeated)
Give extra praise with a draw or win away from home.
I believe morale of players can win points your team would otherwise drop.
Season 2 big decision is whether to let UNH David Healy leave. Had 5M bids already.
Trying to sign Scotland FW Garry O'Connor from Moscow.
Need to beef up defence and midfield too for Premiership survival.
Media prediction is 14th which seems a little optomistic.

Just finished my first season as Spurs boss and after my howler at attempting to be Leeds boss this is the opposite. Won the EURO CUP with a 4-0 victory against Villareal in the final, came 2nd in the league running man u to the wire only losing by 2 points. was also the runner up to chelsea in the FA cup. All in all a great season and my next season is shaping up to be just as good.
Made a couple of new signings: Stephen Appiah, Shaun Wright Phillips and Roberto Soldado - also i signed a young norweign but for the life of my i cant remember his name - have all come in, with Aaron Lennon being sold for 15.5 million to liverpool.
So far only lost 1 game in the league out of 15. unbeaten in 4 games in champions league and still in the league cup!
Here we go again!
Falkirk- 11-14-2006
About half way through opening season with Leeds.
Only signed a few free transfers, so relying on January transfer window for progress.
5th in the table, and doing OK.
Tried to sign some of the Dundee United players who are all said to be very over rated in this version, but only the Scottish international side players were available to buy, and not the Scottish club players.

Noel Hunt (Dundee Utd) is solid GOLD.
Hunt leaves opposition defences shaken, not stirred.
Do not point a (gold) finger at Dundee United in FM, as it is the MANAGER Criag Brewster who has been over rated x 007!
Don't be left with pussies galore in your team, so in short term certainly try and buy Dundee Utd players, and basically any team Craig Brewster manages will create star players in this version of FM.

on the topic on Dundee Utd, David Goodwillie would be an excellent purchase for Leeds United.....talking about stars of the future in my tottenham game i have found the following to be very good!
Gareth Bale(Southampton)
Ander Duarte(Brazilian side)
Diego Buonoutte(Argentinian side)
Per Cijan Skelbred(Norweign side)
Leonardo(Italian Side)
(forgive me for my spelling on some of these)
They are all excellent players who are also very young, i signed Duarte in a january transfer window and he procedded to score 15 goals in 18 games, and he was only 18 + i only had to fork out 675K for him!!!
