GABRIELE MARCOTTI is a good pundit for the most part, but I can't stand the fact that as soon as Juve are the team in question, he allows his bias to show through.
On nearly every point of discussion- especially at half time in the Juve-Messina game, he was anti-Juve all the way (he is an Inter fan, you see).

Juventus are the Man Utd, or the Rangers of Italy...
Everybody except their own fans hate them, and believe they are favoured by officialdom - hence the dislike....
If you want to hear bias, watch and England international match and listen to their commentators!

I think it's one of GABRIELE MARCOTTI'S trademarks is it not, solid sense followed by a sudden Jekyll and Hyde transformation into the rabid Inter fan. I think it's Capello he has an issue with going back years!

GABRIELE MARCOTTI was on UK Talk Sport last night going on about the Italian crisis at club level. Particularly Juve ofcourse!
Is Marcotti based in Italy but an English journalist? What is his history? What newspaper does he write for etc?
Gabbarelli- 07-19-2006
He does a column in the Herald on Sundays.
Aswell as Juve he has a dislike for Celtic, he is a close friend of Paolo Di Canio - wrote his offical biography - since Di Canio's acrimonious split from Celtic he has taken every opportunity to have a dig at them (and there have been plenty opportunities!!)
Not sure if he is Italian or English born, but seems to be more English based commenting on Italian and European football as far as I know.
SeslDotNet- 07-30-2006
I heard on Talk Sport that Marcotti's girlfriend is from Glasgow and she is a Rangers fan, and hence his dislike for the comedy club that is Celtic.
Gabbarelli- 07-31-2006
Glad we cleared that up!
Knew there was an ulterior motive behind his digs at Celtic.
Falkirk- 10-29-2006
Gab Marcotti's co commentary on the Milan Derby last night
"Oh my God!!!! The Matrix has scored"
"Oh my God!!! The Matrix has been sent off! This man is the most persecuted footballer in the history of the game!!!"
Finished 4-3 to Inter.
Ps, and it's Marco 'The Matrix' Materazzi.

I've never tried this, but I think I've figured out a great drinking game when watching England play footy on the EBC.
Every time they say 1966, "They think its all over", 66 World Cup or indeed any reference to that game 40 years ago you down your shots. Anyone who manages to see the final whistle and still be alive wins and must call the ambulance for the others.....
Considering organised footy has only been going roughly since the turn of the 19/20th Centuries this means they won it way back at the halfway point roughly (yes I know some teams are earlier but not by much and in the early days it was mostly informal friendlies and local cups AFAIK)
By the same token if I ever hear about the bloody Lisbon Lions next time Celtic play in Europe I think I'll scream too - hey wait maybe theres another drinking game for tonight there too.....
