The question is, If we introduced more matchdays to SESL would it have a negative impact on your ability to participate to your full potential?

i.e. If there were match days 3 times a week do you have access to the internet often enough to get lineups in?

What is someone was on holiday for 2 weeks,at the moment it means missing 4 league games and 2 cecil suckin cup games as well. If the amount of games was changed to 3 times a week or more, christ if you nmrd that, your season would be over! SESL/awall.gif

The every other day was not touted for general league play, but for the SESL cup group stage.

The Saturday/Monday/Wednesday idea was touted for League play.

and the 3 times a week option doesn't change the amount of games, just splits Saturdays into two.

I would vote for a Saturday and a Monday for a single League match per day, and only Wednesday for a Cup tie - if you had one- and not everybody will have one - and they are not every week.
As for NMRs due to holidays, what difference would that make as against a normal 2 game Saturday and one possible Wednesday - none!

Managers could still place 2 team lines after a Saturday game to cover their Monday and Saturday following, or 2 team lines before a Saturday to cover the Saturday and Monday in that order. Nobody needs to be forced to place team lines on 2 different days if they didn't want to. The Wednesday has always been there anyway.

I think the 2 different league days would increase the Journal and Blogs input quite a bit as each match goes by, but I might be wrong of course!

I have always said though, that any ideas need to be accepted by Mark, and if does not like the idea then there won't be any changes. Wonder what he thinks of all this....

As has been stated the number of games per week has not been changed, it's just the gap in between so I can't see what difference it makes to those that cannot be at a computer every other day???

I'd certainly still enter games two in advance and if I felt the second lineup needed tweaking after the first match then I'd make a small 2 minute change. You shouldn't need to spend hours in front of the computer.

I vote for League games on a Saturday and Monday and any cup games to be played on the wednesday. On that note I also don't like the league breaking up so that SESL group stages can be played, it should be like real life and played between league games.... I guess that's another topic though.

This just shows how different we all are as I love having the break in league matches. The cup section allows me to get to the half way point of the season and know that I have 5 games to sort out any EL issues and training without fear of damaging my prospects whichever end of the league I happen to be. In any event in real life we don't have a cup section, we used to years ago in Scotland in the League Cup and that was played at the start of the season before any league play

It was Mark's idea rolleyes.gif

As others have said the only difference is one league game moved from Saturday to Monday. I think the SESL Cup will stay as it is with the group stages all consecutive and then knockouts on Wednesdays.

In recent seasons the format of the SESL cup has been experimented with.

The group stages were moved to one block so that the cup was given more respect from the managers and as a reward for putting effort into the cup, seeding was added to knock out rounds based on finishing places in the groups.

Last year I felt more effort was put into the group round of the SESL cup than in previous seasons when it was inter spaced with league matches.

But that is a debate for a different thread.

Back to the debate at hand.

The Saturday/Wednesday option versus the Saturday/Monday/Wednesday option affects pre-mid season really. Whilst it does mean another day with games and that affects everyone. The effect on types of games is minimal, as its league games on Saturday (+Monday) and CECIL cup on Wednesdays. SESL knock out games last season were after the league, I think, if not they were also on Wednesdays.

And I don't think the commish is talking about 4 games in a week for the SESL group stage just the same Saturday/Monday/Wednesday schedule just all games being SESL Cup. So if it started on a Wednesday it would be Wed/Sat/Mon/Wed/Sat and back to league games for the Monday.

Oh can't wait for the SESL Cup now that I've been talking about it. I've always liked that competition.

I do not want to see this change. It will penalise those who cannot or do not want to access SESL every other day.

You can claim that you can enter teams beforehand and be at little disadvantage but I disagree;

1. Your EL will be known to the next opponent, if you cannot access you are at a considerable disadvantage.
2. It is suggested that suspensions from Saturday will apply on the Monday. Makes it difficult to do lineups in advance. If we have Sat/Mon the two game session must still apply and suspensions carry through only to the next Wednesday or Saturday.

Personally it will be difficult. I often go away at weekends, I cannot access from work and so will be unable to do line-up in between. I guess I will no be alone

If you want 1 game sessions do them weekly.... But you won't want that!

This is a good point actually. Those that can't get online as often(or don't think SESL should force them to) will end up playing suspended players.

I'm not sure if Olmec will allow two-game sessions over Saturday/Monday.

This will drag the seasons out. At the moment we manage to get two seasons in per year, which is fine.

Spot on. Currently 5 sesl cup games in a row is better.

I agree with Garner with what happened last year.

He hit the nail on the head there. SESL/goodluckicon.gif

You misquoted me you b*stard. SESL/abigcry.gif

that is not what I said at all. you left the start of the sentence out.

Last year I felt more effort was put into the group round of the SESL cup than in previous seasons when it was inter spaced with league matches.

Dropping the last year from that sentence changed that sentence so much it was not funny. SESL/fingersXicon.gif

I believe that last year the SESL Cup was better when all the group games were played together rather than being interspersed with league games.
Double checks sentence to make sure crafty editting can't pull a Sun on this one.

Great input here guys, and I love the Poll that Ricky started.

This was worthwhile, and coupled with heated debates via email, I have decided to leave league session as it is currently:
2 league matches on a Saturday.
