Craig- 09-07-2005
Joe Cole will be dropped tonight as he wa smince, despite his goal vs Wales.
Lampard mince also, but worth having in your team should he re-discover his form of last season.

How will the fans know which national anthem to boo at Northern Ireland v England match tonight!

Ah well, only Spain actually drew from my yankee.

England and the above Spanish draw appears to have scuppered the Commish's...

No doubt the Commish will post that he had bet on Scotland now! SESL/wink.gif

How can a manager fail to get such a great group of players to perform?
Sven Must Stay! SESL/sunshine.gif

Shouldn't the tactic be based on the opponent at hand?

After all, when facing a lesser team wouldn't you expect that the manager would play offensively and save the defensive play for the better opponents?

Besides, during each match you play both defensively (when the other side has the ball) and offensively (when the ball is yours). So England can in fact play with both Wayne Ronney and Michael Owen up front during the offense. Once you go down to defend they can play just below the midfield and follow closely rival players while still being in a position to switch to offense if the ball gets snatched away from the other team using a Long ball play.

England always proved to have a good all around defensive nature no matter whom the rivals were. Usually the squad gets Knocked out on penalties or going down by just one goal (bad luck). Excellent forwards were never the problem with Shearer and Sheringham in the 90's and Owen and Rooney now days which guarentees goals, talented goalies too, what else can one hope for? wacko.gif

Sven should drop Beckham (as if), play a proper defensive midfielder behind Lampard and Gerrard.

England managed a 5-0 win over some mob at weekend there.

Maybe they can ask Walter Smith for advice as Scotland won 6-0
vs Faroe Islands on Saturday! SESL/clap.gif

Hearts- 09-07-2006
Lithuania were unlucky vs Scotland last night. After drawing in Italy (world champions remember) Lithuania assumed a home win, but a good tactical performance away from home by Scotland and us scoring when it mattered.
All about taking chances, and at last Scotland made theirs into goals.

Northern Ireland had result of the night. 3-2 vs the mighty Spain is impressive (and surprising!)

And England beat some unknowns too. wub.gif

My head is still sore fron the hangover - but I am SURE Scotland beat the best team in the world (France) 1-0 at the weekend there.

Walter Smith is so good he could even help the English team to score a goal in a home match vs some unknows!

I'm currently down in Bristol and went searching for a channel that might be showing the Scotland game on TV. I cant find a single channel. England on Sky1, followed by the Wales game, meanwhile on Sky 2 its the Republic of Ireland game

And even in Scotland it seems they're only getting the second half on TV. Sportscene according to radiotimes.co.uk is only starting at 7 for the second half.

Even Setanta dont appear to be showing it?

Something odd going on?

I must be missing a channel that might be showing it?

i was told the first half is on BBC2(scotland) and then its moved over to BBC1 for the second half....seen alot of advertising in pubs up here so i would assume both halfs are being shown! if your on sky then your should be able to view it, if you look through all the BBC channels im sure you will find BBC scotland even if you are in england

WeeBeardyBloke- 10-10-2006

OK - so its on Beeb2 then onto Beeb1. That makes some sort of sense.

Problem is that BBC Scotland will probably (as usual) turn off the Sky broadcast for the -*test*-('")card or some sort of blank screen with music while the game is on. Thats what they've done when I've watched from home in Scotland.

We get pretty poor reception on council-telly at home so we got Sky initially for that, then of course when they show footy they turn it off due to broadcast rights for England usually being owned by someone else. So I have had to try to watch footy through the blizzard of interference [until i got a booster installed at the aerial]

I hope its on, but I'll need to find a compliant Sky telly owner as the England game is on at the same time and I doubt I'm going to persuade the local pub to watch the Scotland game SESL/awhack.gif

Where I'm staying has Freeview and thats it.

Of course now I've blethered away i find out its on BBC2 West for the whole match anyway on Match of the Day.

We undoubtedly deserved to lose, but I was disappointed to see Shevchenko adopt the aerodynamic style of a sack of spuds on the couple of occasions a blue shirt was anywhere near him.
