Gabbarelli- 07-03-2006
Bin the confusing Argentinian challenge.

Next up Allez Les Verts.

St Etienne in Le Championnat.

13th place last season, unlimied signings allowed in this challenge.

July 2006.

Saint Mirren- 07-03-2006
I will give this challenge a go then.

Don't think they won any silverwave for over 25 years mind you!

Didier Zokora I am aware of, and Siaka Tiene and Muzurie.

Is Frédéric Piquionne still at that French club?

Gabbarelli- 07-05-2006
Piquonee (sp) is still there indeed.

Decent squad at start, Janot, Zokora, Diaware, Feindouno, Mazure, Piquonee, plenty to be going on with there I reckon.

Saint Mirren- 07-06-2006
Frédéric Piquionne is a great FW. And has a ready made partner in Mazore.

Day 1, and straight into the Euro Vase knockout. hardly time to catch breath, but safely through the first round against an unknown club.

Gabbarelli- 07-06-2006
I was dumped out Euro Vase in Semi v Lens.

My new signings could not be registered, and Zokora & co were also ineligible for some reason?

Lot of transfers in and out of the club, you can raise good money for a lot of the fringe players.

SeslDotNet- 07-06-2006
Played a couple of months and sitting 4th in league table.

Got to Final of Inter Toto Cup which served as my pre season games.

Signed a Belgian FW called Pieroni, so have 3 quality strikers fighting for 2 places.

Namouchi from Rangers is in on loan and having a great season wide right so far.

Hope to finish season 1 over the weekend.

SeslDotNet- 07-07-2006
Euro Vase - Papa 6-1. HSV 1-0, Deportivo 1-0, Newcastle 0-3.

League placing 3rd at January (behind Lyon and Monaco, and equal with Bordeaux).

Signed:
Luigi Pieroni - FC - Auxerre - 1.2m
Marc Pfertzel - DRL - Livorno - 100k
Hamed Namouchi - AMR - Rangers - LOAN
Jeremy Clement - MC - Lyon - 1.7m

Currently bidding for:
Adailton - DC - Rennes
Marko Muslin - DC - Monaco
Alex Frei - ST - Rennes

Sold:
Sakho 1.2m
Mamoum
Barthe DC - 500k - mistake, as this age 20 averaging 8+ at new club
Frederic Mendy AML 1m - mistake as now need AML cover.
other youth players sold for nominal fees.

SeslDotNet- 07-07-2006
My Starting XI for 1st half of season

GK Janot
DR Pfertzel
DL Ilunga
DC Diawara
DC Barthe (now sold - my mistake)
AMR Namouchi
AML Tiene
MC Clement
MC Sable
FC Mazure
FC Pieroni

Have a handful of injuries at all times, so squad rotation very much in place.

Gabbarelli- 07-07-2006
Sitting 4th at New Year, bought loads, sold on some for hefty profit fairly quickly.

Newest signing is Chevanton from Monaco - £3.7m up front, Diatta in DC from Lyon probably been best signing so far, for £400k. Although Milos Krasic in MC looks a good purchase at £1.4m.

Sold a few fringe players for good money aswell, have £11m to spend in rest of January window, attracting top players a problem.

Richard B- 07-07-2006
Thought i better give this challenge a bash only managed 1 league game so far, a 4-0 demolusion job on Nantes. In the semi's of the euro vase won the first leg 3-1 away at deportivo so should easily make it into final. sold a few players cant quite remember all who i have sold tho but i have signed the following:

Marcelo Zalayeta(ST) - 3 million from Juventus
David Clarkson(ST) - 300k from Motherwell
Ludovic Magnin(LB) - 2.5 Million from Stutgaart
Kevin Thomson(AMLC) - 500k from Hibernian

I am also on the verge of signing Walter Baseggio(MC) from Anderlect.

Starting XI is:
GK Janot
DR Perquis
DL Magnin
DC Diawara
DC Zakora
MR Piquionne
ML Tiene
MC Feindouno
MC Sable
FC Mazure
FC Zalayeta

Both Zalayeta and Clarkson scored on their debut as we demolished Nantes so it looks like it should be a decent season.

Hi,
It’s that time of year again where we start researching for the new release of Football Manager and this year there are plenty of opportunities for you to be involved.

The Scottish Research team has lost a few of its’ researchers since the last release so for FM2007, we are looking to fill the following research positions.

SPL

Celtic*
Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Kilmarnock
Motherwell

Division 1

Airdrie United
Gretna
Hamilton
Ross County
St. Johnstone

Division 2

Alloa
Brechin
Cowdenbeath
Stranraer

Division 3

Albion Rovers
Berwick Rangers
East Fife
East Stirlingshire
Montrose
Queens Park
Stenhousemuir

Please be aware that to be a researcher you must have the following characteristic.

1) You must know a good deal about the club you are researching. Ideally you would be a season ticket holder, but if not, you would attend matches regularly enough to be able to rate the players properly. You should also – where applicable – be able to give information on the reserve and youth players at the club. This doesn’t mean you have to go and watch reserve and under 19s games but you should be able to know the young players’ names, positions, dates of births and who - if any – are considered future first team material or beyond.

2) You must have commitment. Unfortunately what happens a lot of the time is that people sign up and then disappear off the face of the earth once they realise they have to do the research. As a result, anyone who applies will be put on trial to make sure they stick to the job.

3) You understand how to use basic programs. The editor that we use is a more simplified version of the pre game editor found in the game itself, and you will be using that to rate and adjust the players. You should also have a basic knowledge of how to download things, zip and unzip (or RAR or unRAR) files, and it would be preferable if you used MSN.

4) You've got to be objective. Players at Brechin aren't the best in the world and not everyone at your club will be stars.

* Since there will likely be quite alot of Celtic fans applying, i'd definatly favour someone who was a season ticket holder and had a reasonable to good knowledge of the younger players. Both Celtic and Rangers positions are ones that come under alot of scrutiny, so it would be handy to really know your stuff.

The work itself isn’t all that hard. To properly go through a club and edit them only takes a couple of hours, and other than that, your main responsibility will be to update me of any transfers in our out of your club.

What do you get for doing this?

Research is done voluntarily. It’s fun to do and if you are a fan of FM it’s a nice feeling to be involved, and you also get your name in the credits, thus immortalising yourself in gaming history. There is also the chance to get a complimentary copy of FM2007.

If anyone is interested in researching any of these clubs, feel free to contact me at sgmilne@blueyonder.co.uk or discuss it in this thread. Don't be put off by the amount of restrictions i've put on being a researcher. It's not much to ask of you at all, but you do get some muppets who sign up and then disappear when they realise they have to do a couple of hours work.

Please be aware though that simply e-mailing me isn’t always enough to get the job. Depending on the club, I’ll get a lot of applicants, so you may not be guaranteed a position.

Cheers

Stuart Milne

So I have played a week and by Christmas I am mid table wub.gif
Struggling now with injuries.

No one wants to buy my duds, and no decent big money signings coming in like others have posted above.

Any top tips guys?

Gabbarelli- 07-13-2006
Have you looked in your reserves, some decent value players there to either improve your team or raise some cash?

I have never found it so easy to punt my fringe players as I did with St Etienne.

If you can't get rid, try the Eastern European and Scandinivian market for good value buys.
