http://community.sigames.com/eve/forums/a/...91/m/4032050932Hi,
It’s that time of year again where we start researching for the new release of Football Manager and this year there are plenty of opportunities for you to be involved.
The Scottish Research team has lost a few of its’ researchers since the last release so for FM2007, we are looking to fill the following research positions.
SPL
Celtic*
Inverness Caledonian Thistle
Kilmarnock
Motherwell
Division 1
Airdrie United
Gretna
Hamilton
Ross County
St. Johnstone
Division 2
Alloa
Brechin
Cowdenbeath
Stranraer
Division 3
Albion Rovers
Berwick Rangers
East Fife
East Stirlingshire
Montrose
Queens Park
Stenhousemuir
Please be aware that to be a researcher you must have the following characteristic.
1) You must know a good deal about the club you are researching. Ideally you would be a season ticket holder, but if not, you would attend matches regularly enough to be able to rate the players properly. You should also – where applicable – be able to give information on the reserve and youth players at the club. This doesn’t mean you have to go and watch reserve and under 19s games but you should be able to know the young players’ names, positions, dates of births and who - if any – are considered future first team material or beyond.
2) You must have commitment. Unfortunately what happens a lot of the time is that people sign up and then disappear off the face of the earth once they realise they have to do the research. As a result, anyone who applies will be put on trial to make sure they stick to the job.
3) You understand how to use basic programs. The editor that we use is a more simplified version of the pre game editor found in the game itself, and you will be using that to rate and adjust the players. You should also have a basic knowledge of how to download things, zip and unzip (or RAR or unRAR) files, and it would be preferable if you used MSN.
4) You've got to be objective. Players at Brechin aren't the best in the world and not everyone at your club will be stars.
* Since there will likely be quite alot of Celtic fans applying, i'd definatly favour someone who was a season ticket holder and had a reasonable to good knowledge of the younger players. Both Celtic and Rangers positions are ones that come under alot of scrutiny, so it would be handy to really know your stuff.
The work itself isn’t all that hard. To properly go through a club and edit them only takes a couple of hours, and other than that, your main responsibility will be to update me of any transfers in our out of your club.
What do you get for doing this?
Research is done voluntarily. It’s fun to do and if you are a fan of FM it’s a nice feeling to be involved, and you also get your name in the credits, thus immortalising yourself in gaming history. There is also the chance to get a complimentary copy of FM2007.
If anyone is interested in researching any of these clubs, feel free to contact me at sgmilne@blueyonder.co.uk or discuss it in this thread. Don't be put off by the amount of restrictions i've put on being a researcher. It's not much to ask of you at all, but you do get some muppets who sign up and then disappear when they realise they have to do a couple of hours work.
Please be aware though that simply e-mailing me isn’t always enough to get the job. Depending on the club, I’ll get a lot of applicants, so you may not be guaranteed a position.
Cheers
Stuart Milne
