Out of interest who would say they support their local team?
And would you say that if a team is based less then 10 miles from your home they can be classed your local side?
airdrieboss- 03-31-2004
My local side is Dagenham and Redbridge of the Conference. I support them but i can't really call myself a fan as i haven't been over there for years!!!!!
10 miles? I'd call that local.
"This is a local team for local people!"

Changing your argument from other topic I see?
The Hamilton ground is closer to East Kilbride than Celtic. It is not big deal, just adding some facts Mr CEL boss.
Part of the fun of football is travelling to a game and having a few pints, so 10 miles is still pretty local.

It may be closer to the outskirts of East Kilbride, but given I live at the opposite end of the town from Hamilton, it ain't closer to me cheeky chops....

Well mine is simple enough... NOT!
I live in Runcorn and support Runcorn. But Runcorn sold their ground and now play in Widnes, which is a different town!

So its the mighty Tic for me.

You're actually closer to Ibrox than Celtic Park ain't you Damo?
You should have went for Rangers....

Only if I wanted to cross over the other side of the water - often referred to as the Darkside!
Thankfully my Jedi training came in handy!

My home town club's stadium used to be across the road from my house. Can't get any local than that
Sometimes the balls would get kicked over the wall and land in my yard, that's how close.
But I leave in a big city with one football club and ever since they moved the stadium to the west side of town , I'd say it's more than 10 miles away from the east side of town. But it's still the local club for the falks from all over town.
So I don't think that milege is the only factor, tradition plays a big part too. Some clubs are not allowed to play at home because their stadiums are not considered proper for the premiership in my country and the supporters are forced to drive to 'home' matches in another city. But these are still local clubs.
Nairn County- 04-06-2004
I support my local team Nairn County, the ground is about 200 yards away from my house. I remember back in the day as a wee boy when we used to run on at halftime have a game of "world cup" at halftime, oh wait that was last week. Just playing with you's we aint allowed to play on the park anymore.
10 miles i would say was local.

Who is your team Yoav?

I manage Saint Johnstone. But if you mean which team I support than it's called Rishon City No worries, no-one else has heard about it either
My favourite English club is Liverpool.
As for Scotland - I must confess that had no real knowledge of Scots football before I joined Sesl. So besides the world wide well known Celtic and Rangers, the only club I've heard of before has been Saint Johnstone. So it was nice that it became available just as I was looking to join the league.
Gabbarelli- 04-07-2004
Rishon City, you are right, never heard of them I'm afraid, what league do they play in? Are they professional?

I probably support two local teams if that is possible.
I support Clydebank, my original home town, have done since a lad, and since they went bust and bought out by Airdire Untied I still support them financially by being a member of the Supporters trust (but cant make many games).
Also I go along to some home games (and the recent Cup Final) for Livingston as thats where I live nowadays.
When the bairn is old enough I'll take him to Livvie games.
I just wont put up with him getting involved in the seedier side of being an Old Firm supporter.
If you can believe it my sister got assaulted once in Ibrox area for having a green car!?!?!?! Went into a chippie came out and a match had been on that day - two lads came out of a pub and one thumped her. Old Firm fans equals numpties in my book. Too tribal. And tribal for all the wrong reasons.
Also I've been asked too many times in Glasgow "what school did ye go to" and also "which team do ye support" in an attempt to try to wind me up or fight with me.
After living in England for 10 years where religion was a non-question I now see how terrible it can be west coast for this sort of thing. Frankly he's better out of it.
