The top 6 in the division, plus Fraserburgh who were just 2 points behind - and Buckie for the SESL Cup final.

Umm, I thought this would be a genuine 'Manager of the Season', with us choosing any of the 16 managers??
Seems strange to restrict it.
I know I'm not up for it myself as we got relegated, narrowly, but I'd have liked the chance to vote for the manager who kept their, perhaps, poor team up, despite them not having the best T11/T17.

It's more impressive to achieve that than it is to win the division with the strongest side surely?

Steve Turner- 12-01-2007
The polls on here only allow you to pick 10 teams and to be honest it's usually the top teams that get voted for. If it could be set up to vote for all 16 teams then I would do that. Otherwise it's a matter of going through all the teams over the season to see which manager has done the best and that's not an easy job.

And if the best team won the division then it's the manager that made them the best team in the first place (usually).

Ahh, cheers Steve.
Didn't know it had a restricion on the numbers.

I see what you're saying about the manager having created the best team and so on, but I was thinking that gets rewarded anyway in the form of extra income from morale, MVPs and possible end of season awards.
I believe you know all about them!! Well done.

I think Alloa have done well this season, despite not having the best T11/T17 in the division.
No doubt there are others from the other divisions whose league placing doesn't mirror their stats.

Still, if you're limited by what the system will let you poll, then that's fair enough.

Thanks, I won manager of the season when I won Division One with INV back in Season 15 - my only other end-of-season award.

Also take a look at this thread

The team I wanted to vote for wasn't on the list back then.

I think Alloa have done well this season, despite not having the best T11/T17 in the division.

Alloa were 44th in T11 in the whole league a little while after the start of the season (I took a snap-shot on July 26th after some trades had already been made). QP were actually 47th in T11 at the same time.

Near the start of the season I used T17 to work out where I thought the Division 3 teams would end up and had us 9th, we did have the 47th best team there, but now I realise that T11 is probably more important (we were 4th in T11 in the division).

I think what I'll do next season is record everyone's starting Resources, T11, T17 and Age and post them so that everyone can compare how well a team has done.

Maybe we could find another place to have a poll so that every team can be voted for.

So pleasant to find someone else who doesn't just award the team who won the division.
It does require a little more thought and it's only for 2TP, but it's nice when your fellow managers make the effort.

I agree with your point in the other thread too. Your league place does seem to reflect a little more towards your T11 than T17 than you would expect.
This may be down to those 6-pointer/must win league games.

My T17 had us in about 10th place all season, but my T11 was 13th for most of the time. We finished in 14th, although there wasn't much in it.
Still, I can't be too sad. We only finished 4 points from safety.

I won a cup.

I have one of the strongest teams in the whole league at closing time.

I vote myself. SESL/scarf.gif

Such a shame there's not a modesty award.....

Fair point Oli,

The CECIL Cup was won by a Division 2 team East Fife
The SESL Cup winner and runner up were both Division 2 teams Livingston and Buckie Thistle
I think some of the very best Managers AND teams are in the 2nd Division!
...and with only the 5th best T11 in the 2nd, GREENOCK MORTON scored more, conceded less and won the Division by 15 points!
...and that's a Greenock Morton scarf your waving SESL/scarf.gif SESL/scarf.gif SESL/scarf.gif SESL/scarf.gif SESL/scarf.gif SESL/scarf.gif

Toughest vote of all. SESL Div 2 is perhaps the most competitive division as a few defeats can move a team from promotion playoff to relegation zone!

LIV have done well in League and Cup as have EF.
QP improved well, and HIB came good after shakey start.

Commish votes for GM though. Despite a strong starting squad, they are runaway leaders and have won the league in some style.

R E S U L T

1. GM 16 votes (2 TP winner)

2. LIV 9 votes

3. HIB 8 votes
