They say in football that you should never go back, however that is just what Richard Burnett has done by returning to his former position as manager of Nairn County. Having led the team to their highest position of 5th in the league he was then forced to leave his post because of private matters. These matters have been overcome now and Burnett is more than ready to take the challenge of making NAI a force to be reckoned with once again.

Burnett had this to say:

"Its great to be returning to Station Park once again, i cannot describe the feeling of once again been given the chance of taking charge of a team i have supported throughout my life. My previous experience will no doubt prove to aid my cause to bring silverware back to Station Park. Building on last seasons finish of 6th will be my main ambition, with my experience and the strong squad i will be inheriting i feel that promotion in my first season back in charge is definatly a possibility should i fail to win the up-coming playoff against MOT. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Chairman for given me this chance again and also to thank the previous manager Len Lear for allowing me the chance to take control of NAI once again."

Many of you SESL managers should remember Burnett from his previous seasons in SESL no one more than Arbroath manager Les Lithgo who Richard forged a friendly rivarly with. Burnett led the "wee County" through seasons 10 to 12 and then due to unforseen circumstances was forced to leave his post. Burnett proved to be a strong manager although seemed to bottle the opportunity of winning promotion in season 11, this seemed to be a catalyst of on-field problems for NAI as season 12 saw a dissapointing finish of 10th place. However during this season Burnett managed to bring together a strong set of players and the team was highly tipped by SESL veterans to become next seasons division 3 champions. However before the season started Burnett was forced to leave his post and the team were lead to a 3rd place finish, after a brief spell in the 2nd division NAI are back in the bottom division. 6th place was home to NAI at the end of last season and a playoff game awaits Nairn, they will be playing a strong team in Motherwell and undoubtly Burnett will be looking to win this game for quick entry into the 2nd Division. The details of Burnetts contract are unknown but his unquestionable love for this club will no doubt mean it will take alot to dislodge him from the Nairn County hot-seat.

Was forced by evil parents to make something of myself and had to head the big city of aberdeen to attend university and was left internetless and finally i have managed to finance the internet(not easy bein a poor student who needs to drink excessive amounts of alcohol) so i had to return to SESL.

Nothing really tabloid worthy their too busy with prescott anyway, he hogs all the headlines.

Welcome back Mr Burnett, Nairn not quite in as good shape as you left them but Len has certainly started the rebuilding work over the last half season or so.

The SESL manager merry-go-round continues with old faces making returns to the game. What's next we ask ourselves? a return for the infamous Mr Fant perhaps?

Who is this Michael Fant talked about, and what did he do in SESL to get tag of "Fant-om Menace" as noted in rules.

5 other Fants?

Mr Fant was a highly successful manager in the early days of SESL, who dominated the league with his policy of having a single "super player" with extremely high SL in each of GK (stopped you scoring many), MF (created and scored shed loads) and FW (Scored almost every chance they got).
He may no longer be in the game for whatever reason but he does have a lasting legacy in the form of harsher ageing tables and the 10 point maximum TP/CP rule which were put in place to stop these kind of tactics being repeated.

A very warm welcome back Rich...

I hope Uni was a worthwhile experience and you gained the result you were looking for. I feel sure that your golf will have moved up to the next level and I know your ability to drink at the tax-payer's expense will also have moved to a new level SESL/wink.gif

We at Arbroath look forward to renewing our rivalries - especially if the playoffs enable you to ply your trade at the higher level SESL/wink.gif

Of course I could join the managerial merry go-round to allow us to renew our rivalry should Nairn fail to win against the Mothers -- I feel sure there are a whole host of clubs who would like to have me at the helm!

I remember Michael Fant falling down some stairs and injuring his foot in the middle of an SESL LIVE! auction...he was going to the fridge to get a beer at the time...

I've never heard of Michael Fant. I guess I'm too young.

What is happening here?
I said that I would give up Nairn as soon as another team became available.
I have yet to be informed that this has happened.

Nairn numpty nobbles new niknaks nosenselessly.

I think NAIRN boss and Chairman will be having a meeting this week!

2 league points all season, and an obsession in playing Stall team tactic is driving the NAI fans away,

Stall while losing seems a bit "non-senselessly" to us old guys.
