There is no right or wrong tactic as such - indeed there are no magic formula's or formations to win you matches in SESL.

However, picking the correct team tactic for your particular squad of players can reap benefits. For example, if you have a weak midfield then maybe try Long Ball and 4-2-4 formation.

The best advice for any newbie manager joining SESL is not to experiment wildly with tactic (like I so often see) but just perhaps play 4-4-2 Normal team tactic for first week or two until you are familiar with how the game seems to play.

Remember - check for player suspensions and don't ignore the ref stats!

There will be a few vacant teams soon, unsure.gif
so a handful of new SESL managers will join us for season 13. biggrin.gif

If you have a friend that wants to join SESL, then email me now.

Ideally you will be able to help your friend get started with offline line-up builder and the basics of the game. This will be a huge help to me, and hopefully reduce the manager-turnover at some clubs this season.

ass manager? nope. plenty ass'es already in sesl !!! tongue.gif

but you can ask folk like ELG_boss for help who has done really well to get promoted
(once he realised to ignore the 'help' from CEL_guy)!

My mentoring is the singley most important factor in ELG gaining promotion this season.....

Not wanting to blow my own trumpet, but managing to mould somebody with so little natural talent into a promotion winning manager really is beyond anybody else's talents within SESL...

For my next challenge I am going to ask the Commish to appoint a monkey in charge of a SESL team and see if mentoring the monkey can bring even greater success than ELG's boss was trained to.

Is it worth having a forum topic for new managers to ask questions on? More experienced managers could offer their opinions on the question or simply give their advice? Obviously new managers should know the rules, but there are some areas we could all help new managers with.

Great idea!!!

Maybe we could call it the "New Managers Help Forum" if that hasn't been used elsewhere??? biggrin.gif

What is it with HAM and CEL? Seems a real rivalry there.

Do HAM and CEL meet in the sesl cup this week.....

Gabbarelli- 08-09-2004
Who is this DEV boss trying to stir things up?

Yes, CEL and HAM do have a healthy rivalry....

and yes we do play in the cup this week - this is the Cup Final before the final in my opinion, if we KO HAM that is as good as winning the cup for me, even if I go no further than that! biggrin.gif

I found newbie help guides useful

SeslDotNet- 09-05-2004
Any more experienced managers willing to offer their opinions to newbies?

The rules are pretty lengthy, so I normally ask new managers to skim read them and note down the basic rules first as a reference.

Email me if you wish to join the 'newbie helpers file'. For once, no TP is on offer to help out!

Mark,

I just read the file on the website and there is much that can be added. Should I post something on the forum or would you prefer if a txt file would be sent to you instead?

SeslDotNet- 10-15-2004
A text file is fine Yoav, I can use it in a future report, or on the web site.

Sorry for delay in responding to your post above.

Check this LINK out from 12 seasons ago, year 2002!

Some useful 'help' documents for newbies, which may (or MAY NOT) still be relevant in today's SESL.
