sesl >>SESL suggestions >>Old Beggers Age5+

Many a Manager will tell me that this has been mentioned before... but...

There are officially 8 ages of SESL players, 0-7, and the younger players attract all the attention in trades and auctions.
Age 5's get a little pampering with the captains bonus routine, but other than that many teams ignore ages 4 and upwards for any coaching.

Whilst having a quick scan around the League tonight, I've noticed more than one team to be falling outside of the 18-25 players margin, and they didn't have 26 players!

So could SESL be a little less harsh on the old timers?

The Commissioner probably has some Stats on how many players there are currently in the league at any given time, are these numbers visible at all?

So what do we think? Do old timers get too hard a time?

Do old timers get too hard a time? Not in SESL, no, I dont think so.

The very reason I introduced Captains Bonus was to give some value and purpose to these "old Beggers".

I have a snapshot of every player in SESL as at 4th July 2007.
944 players over 48 teams, averaging just under 20 players a team.

Of the old codger age 5+ variety:-
160 were age 5
126 were age 6
28 were age 7
1 was age 8 rolleyes.gif

Yes, our old friend Yoav had an 8/1 FW at STJ.
A cyber pint reward to anyone who guesses this 8/1 FW name! (now retired)
There was FOUR players of this name last season, but now only 1 remains at DEV I think.

Well that makes it easy then rolleyes.gif

STJ had three 8/1 at the end of last season, but the player in question is of course John Robertson

Ah, the old Nottm Forest legend - John Robertson.

Remember seeing 3 or 4 of that player name last season.

Must be a few other duplicate names in SESL - so how about a game of snap!

First one to post an after match comment in a match with same player in each lineup wins a prize! ;-)

Sounds like a fun game. I will look to try and win that with my team I have at least two duplicates.
And at least one of them is in my division.

ALO v GM next up could be a 'player snap' opportunity.

Cyber glass of wine for me ?! SESL/purple_smile.png

Sorry Jackie, but I posted this pre-match comment last night

...but our Scott McLaughlin is better than yours! naa naa na-na naaa - Graeme Scott (GM)

So I win! SESL/scarf.gif (Nice GM scarf there)

...but the rules state after match comment, so unfortunately fortunately as I'll be supping of the Champers on Saturday afternoon whilst taking in some corporate hospitality at Firhill, it's up to you and anyone else who's noticed, to get commenting on my match at 10 past 4 while I'm drowning my sorrows.
Sorrows at missing out on Stewart's prize obviously tongue.gif

A move to bring the OLD MEN SCORE GOALS GET MONEY award down to age five will help with giving pensioners a better chance in this league.

I for one am hoping this change happens, as I will have a 5/24 FW.

Despite my posts against some awards, I am not opposed to all awards, I do like the OLD MEN SCORE GOALS GET MONEY as it adds a bit of spice and difference to the league.

How about 1 extra free training slot per player age 5 or more? The experience helping the coaching progress.

Teams in transition could buy up old players and save a fortune as they coach multiple youngsters in early season games.

Difficult to implement I guess but could add some interest for older players.

I think the top age 6 scorer award is a fantastic idea and has helped (a little i know) more older players stay in the game.

Maybe up the award a bit?

Maybe give an award for best age 6+ keeper?

My two pennies anyways!
