Announcement from Olmec software owner, Allan Sellers

I'm ready to start pursuing the "next generation" of Olmec software called Olmec Jaguar.

I'm hoping to develop a more realistic game that won't sacrifice gameplay and keep it fun for all.

Here's a link to get to the task list I've developed so far:
Olmec Jaguar

I have talked to some of you managers in the past on certain aspects of this but I haven't put down any names yet in terms of what people might like to help with.

How long will all this take? I think there will be:

* 2-3 months of design and general rules development
* 2-3 months of coding
* 4-6 months of playtesting

I'm hoping to get help from those of you who are interested. That could be in one or more of the three phases I've outlined above.

If you are willing to help, bear in mind that I simply cannot use all ideas all the time. I do have some "general thoughts" on what the "next generation" is, but nearly all of those haven't gotten to the 'detail' stage which is where I could use a hand.

If you are involved, expect some of your ideas to be vetoed and not used. I want to say that up front as I don't want folks joining thinking I can do whatever they come up with and then getting a "take your toys and go home" approach.

In the long run, I know from past experience that the best ideas are usually arrived at collectively and I'm hoping we can do that with this. For example, someone may have an idea...others will debate it...and we may use the original idea but develop it to the point where its much clearer and better in the long run.

In addition, whatever software is developed will be open source to the extent that anyone can get to it and then use it for their own league.

If you are interested in helping out and see some areas where you think you can lend a hand, please let me know.

Mark: Can you identify and recommend some folks from SESL?
(please email SESL Commish if interested)

Thanks,
Al Sellers
