I received this at 12:23 today

Hi All,

Our neighbor's house and ours share the same "terminal" for our cable/high speed internet connection. So each of us have lines that go to that terminal.

Last Saturday, our neighbor cut their cable while aerating their lawn. So the cable company came out, ran a line from their house to the terminal and would bury that cable later.

Yesterday they came to bury our neighbor's cable. They did a fantastic job as our neighbor continued to have cable service.

Unfortunately the gentlemen burying their cable, managed to cut our cable. Service should be restored about 5pm Central tonight (2200 GMT).

So the cable company will be running a cable from my house to the terminal mentioned above. Does anyone want to guess what will happen when the cable company comes to bury THAT cable? :-)

Al

I can also travel through time

Saint Mirren- 10-05-2007
Any chance deadline will be pushed back 24 hours?

Suppose with other games at 2 days apart, there is no time.

SAINTMANDAVE- 10-05-2007
Not very likely as Mark (Commish) is away on holiday & not really necessary is it ? cool.gif

Steve Turner- 10-05-2007
No, not necessary. Especially as it's possible for the site to be unavailable on a Friday anyway as Al sometimes works from home.

QOS- 10-05-2007
True (and you are very strict Steve!). However, I couldn't get on the site on Thursday evening either...

Steve Turner- 10-05-2007
That I am tongue.gif

I couldn't get on the site Thursday night but I've had internet problems recently and put it down to that.

The main problem is that Commish isn't back until Tuesday and if the problems persists I wouldn't be surprised if Al Sellers held back the deadlines.

As I type it's still down and half an hour (only) after when service was supposed to be restored.

And I would like to get on as I only put in a -*test*-('") line-up for Saturdays game.

I cannot log on to http://www.olmec.org/sesl/index.jsp
Saturday 20 October breakfast time.

Will keep trying every hour up to deadline later today.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat.
Shift work is not condicive to getting online.
That and doing a clean install during the week...

Raith- 10-20-2007
I am just back from holiday and although I managed to check scores yesterday didn't have time for line-ups.
And thus I am in the same boat as the guys above.

Saint Mirren- 10-20-2007
Web site still seems down, and I fully appreciate the concerns of posters above.

I myself went NMR just 2 weeks ago on Oct 6 when server was down for 24 hours. It is frustrating, but the lesson I learnt was to submit lineups earlier.

For sure, those on shift work dont have the flexibility, and that goes to those on holiday vacation too ofcourse. You guys have my sympathy.

The disclaimer with advice to submit lineups early has been posted on this forum for almost the last 2 years, so we have no grounds for complaints really.

Web site currently offline and apologies for this, but out-with our control.

As soon as I hear any news from Al, I will post it on this forum.

Site back up - MVP awards for matches 33 and 34 given. Not checked results yet though.

SeslDotNet- 10-20-2007
Web site back on line at 7:38pm UK time

Reason:

Al Sellers who pays to host the Olmec.org web site (and SESL database for us all) has his IP address 'matched' to olmec.org

The IP address occassionally changes, and Al was not home today to do the manual fix.

A static IP address costs quite a bit more money, so unless someone offers to pay for it, that is the issues that may arise occassionally.

Olmec Software Disclaimer on this forum recommends all managers submit lineups early. 40 managers did so, while 8 never and went NMR today. Some of the 8 were on vacation, while others have hopefully learnt the lesson to follow advice and submit lineups earlier.

Lastly, I confirm the results stand from todays matches.

thanks for your understanding, and apologies for those disappointed.

Hi folks,
Got a wee problem. The site chucked me out earlier on whilst submitting my lineups. Basically,I got half way through tactics, hit submit and it threw up the login screen instead of confirming.
I've been unable to log back in.
It did record a lineup for the first match, but it seems to have gone wrong somehow, wierd players, positions and tactics. No coaching or training that I chose and I wouldn't have dreamed of playing longball.

I've emailed about the problem, but I still can't get back in.
this means I'm currently going to NMR the second match.
Any help would be appreciated.
Ta.
