I generally think OTF is overlooked by majority of teams, but lets see how this season pans out and review at end of season 20 what each teams OTF is.

Some managers say there are too many resources in SESL. If that was case, majority of teams would have 10 OTF and there would not be the usual 2nd half of season scramble for extra CP many teams seem to crave as season progresses.

If OTF is being overlooked, than maybe it is not deemed as effective as it was meant to be in the game?

Lets look at the team stats later this season,
and decide from there based on facts.

That's the point I think, Stewart. 10 OTF only adds 20 OFF+DEF to a team. 10 OTF costs 20 CP - add 10 CP to forwards and 10 CP to defenders and you get +5 GP, + 10 DEF +12.5 OFF (if playing a sweeper). OK it isn't for every game but the extra SL means more chance of scoring goals.

So if CP is a little short then OTF is where it will be neglected.

However Ball Control was there to counter that but, unfortunately the rules were set up with average SLs around 20 not getting on to 30. The loss of GP from playing ball control isn't compensated now with the +11.25 OFF and DEF you get if you have OTF of 10 and a 5 to 2 MF advantage.

And why wouldn't teams overlook it. Hearts are joint lowest in Division 1 on 3 OTF and did someone not just win 2 titles on the trot with them

Not trying to create a firestorm here, but Stewart and Steve really are correct in terms of OTF/BC vs. SL. Of course, where we disagree, I am sure, is the manner in which we address the problem. I feel like the problem is the influx of CP/TP resources that push player SL's up to a point that that the original OLMEC standards don't function as intended. BC has a very vital role in balancing out team tactics and game management, but current player values render it less effective.

Again, just discussing.

Oh, why not go with the banana tonight.

SESL/yay.gif man is, as usual, correct...
I had planned an assault on EC with a touch of BC but not BC v EC obviously...

I'm just looking to counter the opponents tactics... every game...

So my OTF ,now, is 10, every game, whether I use BC or not, thats 20SL for me to use at my discretion... and if my opponents this season choose to ignore OTF by utilising EC or LB then good luck to them!
They may be spending their CP's somewhere else
The only thing standing between us, is the amount of CP's he/we can spend on his/our team, that are not directed to the OTF.

It should be a choice, and working out which season CP/TP are most costly against buying in players from auction or not... bladdy blah...

Currently, there is only one choice, but limiting the CP/TP at auction this season (season 20) will only help.

Having said that, there is a way to fight teams with over zealous wingers...

...but only if SESL has a cap on the resources...

...not a CAP! on resources! Just a Cooling down...
you get me?

dare i say it

SL40 WG's?

Dang, I said it

You don't need to play BC to counter EC/LB. 4-5-1 N is often enough if you throw up a big GP/DEF then you reduce your opponent right down.

The other thing you can do is play a SW who gets a DEF area bonus against EC/LB.

And finally against WG's marking is the big killer.

A 1-3-5-1 N marking both wingers and one of the FW's should seriously reduce the opponents stats and the 5 MF's should still be able to contribute enough to DEF to reduce down the shots. The SW should help with GP and DEF as well. A big FW combining with your MF's should put enough OFF up to potentially allow you to outscore the other side.
