Most of the end of season awards are going to go to the teams who have performed well all season under the various criteria.
Some teams may even be up for more than one award, or even all of them.
These all add up to 2100k, provided you take 1 TP = 100k.
The teams who finish in the top two or three are probably going to be given a significant reward anyway.
One of the 300k prizes is roughly equal to going on a 4 game winning streak in the Cups.
IE 4*75k.
So, on top of their morale bonuses, the better teams in the league are going to get this extra cash as well.

There is no need to give the winning teams any more of a financial reward.

Well my team is on its way down but my GK is top of two of the categories.
But the goalscorer one is usually going to go a team at the top of the table.

But I am in favour of these awards, I'm in favour of rewards for finishing up the table, not the current system of rewarding failure by giving a better bosman player for finishing 10th instead of 6th.

Team OTF boosts are preferable than cash awards.

Not at the Early Cross teams they aren't tongue.gif

A number of managers have approached me recently regarding team end of season awards, and I agree they need looked at again and revised.

Maybe too much cash is on offer, and with concerns over lack of OTF and increase in Early Cross play, then I am happy to offer team OTF boosts in future seasons as end-of-season awards.

I am keen to add some new awards also, if anyone has suggestions ?

I agree there's too much cash, especially as one team could win it all.

Golden Gloves is a good award as any team can win it.
You have to keep Golden Boot.

Dump best offence and best defence as these are likely to go to teams that do well anyway and have more cash from winning games.

Cleanest team - an award for the least DP per team, or alternatively the fewest match bans.

I'm not convinced that awarding OTF is a good idea. A manager should be allowed to spend his CP/cash how he wants. Having said that I'd still take it - we only play early cross half the time and an OTF bonus of 2 = 4 CP = 300k? means I don't have to waste CP there.

When you put it like that Steve it sounds like a good deal .Quite a few managers will lose 2 OTF so it would be a bonus .

A team that relies on Long or Early does not get much help when their FW's WG's are on low EL and they are forced to play Norm/Opp or Stall with only 2/3 OTF .

An addition of some OTF would be a small help biggrin.gif

David HAM King- 11-19-2007
So, are we looking at some sort of a fair-play award and a dirty hacking team award?

I'd resist the urge to make it a OTF boost, that way the manager can choose how they want to use their cash.

If they choose to boost OTF, then they'll probably have to pay 25k for the extra coaching as most managers will be coaching a player at the same time anyway.

If we're worried about the high morale/best sides in the division getting all the awards, then why not have a sliding scale?
Bronze, Silver and Golden boot. Golden, Silver, Bronze gloves.
Woolly mittens award, butter-fingers cup, etc.
Or give teams a target. Any team who scores more than 60 (for example) goals gets the award, or any team who concedes less than 1 goal/match.
Things like that.

We could leave the total amount of the awards as coming to a 2100k still, but award them in such a way that any given team should only be able to pick up a given maximum amount.

Some ceiling maximum a single team can win per 'end of season awards' makes sense.

I also like HAM idea of gold silver bronze in a couple of categories as that spreads the awards amongst several teams.

Have a list of awards and hand them out to teams in list order. Each team can win 3 awards maximum then they are 'out'.

A few Gold silver bronze awards can be 3 OTF, 2 OTF and 1 OTF

Maybe hand out about 10 awards in total per division.

The Pensioner Golden Boot award could be reduced to age 5+ as mentioned by Bill CEL on Blog to bring team Captains into equation.

Gretna- 11-20-2007
With CP scarce recently, OTF has been neglected by most teams.
Makes sense to offer OTF as part of end of season awards to keep it a viable feature within the game.

However, OTF team boost should be rewarded AFTER end of season aging so the teams on full 10OTF are not penalised.

Also, a couple of 'fun' awards will spread the bonus round more teams,
so 'butter-finger GK' award is a good idea (mentioned by someone earlier)
and a 'NOT shot shooter' tongue.gif
who has most shots with NO goals could earn a token couple of CP perhaps.

garner- 11-20-2007
The worst shooter award doesn't already exist, ahhh I thought my lad was a shoo-in, though Robin's lad has caught up ground recently and is now level.

David HAM King- 11-20-2007
Why does giving out free OTF suddenly make it more viable?
It doesn't change its' utility in the game at all.

Continue to award prizes in the widely accepted form of....cash!
If the manager chooses to convert that cash into CPs and from CPs into OTF, then that's up to them.

I figure that awarding prizes that let managers make managerial choices in a management game is a little more of a plan than awarding them with something that actually restricts their choices, to the point of giving them none at all.

Congratulations, you've won. Here's some OTF.
Now I know you don't actually use it, but tough.

I wish folk would stop looking at it as "rewarding failure".

Its about balancing the league.

If folk wouldnt get huffy about it I'd be all for handicapping people who do well, by taking resources away!

Ok so you'd prefer the Commissioner to reward failure?
The Bosman system is set up to reward the less successful teams!
The Americans have a system in their Gridiron Football called the Pre season Draft which gives the worst teams first pick of the new pool of talent coming in from the College Game! This system keeps the Divisions very tight (just take a look at their tables! NFL STANDINGSIf a team becomes dominant they soon fade away in a couple of seasons.
But thats American Football SESL/cheerleader.gif

Personally I don't see any problems with the rewards as they are SESL/say_nowt.png
Why would you reward a poor player who scores 0 goals from 20 shots ? SESL/confused.gif
Before you know it Somebody will suggest giving Steve McLaren an OBE & David (Poshboy) Beckham a Knighthood! SESL/eek.gif

Don't HAM it up DAVE!

Don't sit on the FENCE !

YOU LOVE OTF rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

You should do , you have relied on OTF for 95 % of your tactics this season and yet you only have 4 OTF.????????
