I don't particularly like or dislike SET, maybe dislike more I suppose as it does let a team STALL but still get several Free kicks and thus acheive shots they would not otherwise gain. This is one area where it can be abused, I am thinking of writin up some recommendations to alter the benefit of SET dependent on the tactic, as I believe a STALLing team will hardly ever be in their opponant's half.

I get the impression that Clive doesn't care for the STALL tactic.

The "CP shortage" is more due to harsher aging in SESL than in other leagues. It is considerably harder to maintain players in the mid-to-high-20's so most CP goes to a few star players with the rest getting only scraps. As Phil noted, once you've then invested in OTF you have nothing to spare for SET. A manager has to decide if the additional chances to score (and prevent scoring from FK-wild refs!) is worth passing on bringing up one player entirely, or leaving 2 players hovering in the low-20s instead of the mid-20s. Given Yoav's TP masses, I don't think there's a shortage of TP in SESL...
As for CP, wait and see. Only last season was CP introduced as an auction item and there has been an influx this season with straight CP, OTF, SET, Captain's Bonus, and Private Trainers available. With the league being slightly altered for more money for Div 2 and Div 1, there should also be more CP purchased going into next season than in past years. Press Points now also allow for a large influx of resources at mid-season, making this the relative "Year of the CP" versus past seasons. Keep an eye on the avg. SL and T11 averages for teams from the start of this season, last season, and next season to see if those numbers are increasing. If they do league-wide, then there is plenty of CP around. If they are falling, then we'll actually have evidence of a lack of resources in the current rule environment. I'll track myself and post a topic at the start of next season as well with how trends are going.

As for Clive,
I'm guessing that guys standing around stalling must remind him too much of work...

boo-yah!
Point for Kevin!

Managing to silence Clive at SRA is a fair achievement

I agree with this:- I think the benefits of OTF are overlooked by many newbie bosses, while a top SET rating can win you games even when playing Stall for 90 minutes you can still gain set piece free kicks. Overlook this fact at your teams peril.
Assuming ref Graham Poll survives the voting poll currently going on, then with such 'homer' refs a high team SET rating seems sensible and the auction bids for SET and OTF boost will likely creep up as this becomes apparent to managers.
QueensPark- 01-08-2006
I always consider OTF the main team add on, but I would liek the see stats of teams with high SET and if they scored more free kicks than ther average side in sesl.
SeslDotNet- 01-30-2006
SET pieces are not going to feature in new online SESL as that is not part of current software.
Therefore the emphasis on OTF will increase I guess. Especialy with majority of teams starting with a maximum 10 OTF as exisiting SET has been converted to OFT and balance given back to team totals as CP.

Does this means I get a lot of CP extra's out of that as I head OTF 10 and SET 20 at the end of last season??? Yeah!
Dunfermline- 01-30-2006
From most recent report:- East Stirlingshire 2462 7 14
After ageing, 7 OTF will become 10, with 11 SET leftover converting in to CP I would guess, so EST would start with 11 CP on top of any CP purchase for new season I guess.
Steve Turner- 01-31-2006
It takes 2 SET for each OTF so it will be 8 CP extra.
Hearts- 01-31-2006
No, it will be 11 cp not 8 for EST. Commish said it will convert at 'half price' so 1 set = 1 otf. Suppose this is because managers had no option and saves some asking for all CP and some not. I also suspect teams with big OTF goes a small way to help counter long ball teams.
Steve Turner- 01-31-2006
I've re-read a couple of e-mails and Hearts is correct.
Bijls- 02-05-2006
I'm happy Hearts is correct. Very nice if you had OTF 10 and SET 20 at end of season like I did!
