Hello all , Just to say I think we should show our appreciation for the commish.

This is a great game ( for those of you not losing) and a terrific site full of info.

I was wondering if we could all afford £2 > £5 ($4 > $10) for a SEASON ,
maybe 3 > 8 EUROs, not much to ask.

If Mark put PAYPAL on the site we could donate some cash which goes some way into
paying for the upkeep of the site and Marks's time.

I know Mark will be angry with me as I have not discussed this with himself , but what can he do > sack me > no way who will he find to take over SM from me.

Anyway just a thought guys , if Mark puts PAYPAL on the site , it will NOT be
compulsory to donate , but there if you want to.

Actually I was thinking of something like this for Al Sellers who hosts it all as well as puts in the time for the coding. And I expect he has to fork out money as well as time.

But I had a feeling he would refuse anyway.

We did this a couple of years ago for Al Sellers. All the SESL managers bought a postcard with a picture of their home town on it, then wrote a short message of thanks to Al and sent it to Mark to co-ordinate it in a big folder.

With monetary donations, Mark also bought an England and Scotland football top for Al to wear (as majority of managers were from UK then in SESL).

I will certainly contribute, but I think Allan and Mark would rather we didn't.

MOT Man- 04-08-2006
Despite my being in Canada, I would gladly contribute something for Mark and/or Al.
They spend so much time on something that we all enjoy and it is fun.

I reckon this is a good idea, to show a bit of thanks for all the effort put in.

Although Mrs CEL would gladly pay the commish to take his SESL and go away, far away, a long, long, long way away......an unable to contact him far way away.

I think this is a pretty good idea, both from a sign of appreciation for time and effort, but also from a upkeep point of view to keep players only who will put the time in from playing.

Gabbarelli- 04-19-2006
I would not be against contributing for the effort put into running SESL.

However, as mentioned previously it is debatable whether the Commish would want to go along this road.

Despite the occassional software bug, we all must realise we have played in this game for FREE.

Someone is paying for this somewhere down the line - both in monetary cost to host, and also the hours spent making the matches happen.

This is something we will consider for NEXT season.

It will likely be VOLUNTARY and 100% will NOT go to me, but donations should be passed on to Al Sellers in USA who writes, supports, updates the sofware, and hosts the SESL database at his own expense.

My role is merely to administer the game and set up match schedules and auctions. I have taken my eye off the ball these last couple of months, but SESL will continue, and its remarkable thinking back how far we have all come reaching 18 seasons of play.

I'd be willing to make a donation - no problem.

Does Phil have to pay EXTRA for the cats ? SESL/abigcry.gif

Season 19 is scheduled to run August to December 2007.

I will adopt an optional donation scheme for season 19 and see how it goes.

Those participating in that will go in to a hat to win a signed jersey of any player we sponsor in real life as part of this 'pay to play' optional scheme.

The rest of money would go to Olmec creator Al, and NOT me.

I would prefer if managers participated on this Forum (and Blog and Journal) because they wanted a fun and active game, and not for a SESL team cash reward.

The more participation effort managers put in, the better SESL could be for everyone.

I will happily pay the men who run this league.

I also agree on the principal thought of this being a free to play league, so I will happily call this a donation/gift/present/giveaway or whatever name you want to call it.

I also know that both Mark and Al do not want money but would prefer a SL 40 FW each season !!!
