Full Version : PHYSIO BOOST rule +8EL

AS an alternative to the current Magic Sponge I would suggest an alternative.

I don't think we should have a QUICK fix eg. a player on -20 EL uses the MS and is fit to play next week - that is somewhat unrealistic in real life as a -20 would be a serious injury.

My Idea of using a physio is to reduce the "down time" of a player.

If you have a player on -30 EL he will miss 8 games before he can play again.

If the manger chose to use a Physio (6EL) Twice then 12EL would be restored reducing "down time" by 3 games.

PHYSIO CAN ONLY BE USED IF PLAYER IS -4 EL or greater.

PHYSIO CAN ONLY BE USED ONCE PER SESSION.

COST - to be decided - Make it a fixed fee regardless of SL

Possibly 1 CP or 1TP or cash or a combi of both.

Spot on Robin,

In one of the earlier "Championship Manager" type games I used to play, about 15 odd years ago, you could send your most severely injured players to a specialist.
I think at the time it was a place called Lillieshall?, or something like that.
So it wasn't an instant fix, but as you suggest Robin, a shortened recovery time.
This also means that with a -98 EL player, you can remove the specialist treatment if you get a replacement from an auction or such like rather than simply shell out a fat bag'o'cash.
This would remove the problem of the Magic Sponge only applying to RICH clubs, I emphasive rich - as the richest club in SESL just now are still waiting on HEA and GRE to bank their 4Mil SESL/wink.gif
The Magic Sponge is a great idea, but to make it a drip feed rather than a Lazarus style recovery is just what this feature needs to save it from the ridicule it currently attracts.

I really like idea of tweaking Magic Sponge so you "send your most severely injured players to a specialist."

Drip feeding EL boost makes far more sense.

Make cost 1 CP or 1 TP (managers choice) however it may need to be more than a +6EL boost so this rule is actually used.

How about +10 EL for 1CP or 1TP, per session?

Great idea Robin, although the cost may need to be set to make it attractive - no point having a dormant new rule.

Given DUM never felt it was worth (I think) just 170k to add 108 EL on to his -98 SL17 FW this season,
why would a manager pay 70k (cost of a CP/tp) to add just +6 EL !

Remember the injured player would NEED to sit out that session as Physio Boost would only be applied AFTER the following session, so that is a penalty enough for the injured player missing 2 matches while on negative EL.

Given a 2 game session adds +8EL to a player, this Physio Boost could maybe also add +8EL so the recovery time is effectively halfed. Point being, the injured player still needs sit out a full session as on -EL and 'boost' only added after games played. (no issues for opposition managers either as extra EL added after the following session)

Make rule attractive to start with - and scale it down in future seasons if over used.

It could add a real competitive challenge with more managers considering pushing players to the limit, ala Ross at Aberdeen FC.

Making the fee a CP or TP instead of cash is all but prohibitive to the lesser clubs anyway. Giving up the future potential of your team for immediate rewards is a move than only makes sense if you're shooting for a top goal like a Cup final or championship/promotion. Those teams are the ones with cash/resources anyway. That wouldn't remove the problem, though it would make it less likely to be used. If the Sponge got a player back who then helped you win an extra Cup match and get the extra Cup revenue - then the sponge just paid for itself! You can't win back a CP/TP so the loss would be felt more strongly I would imagine.

GM boss- 05-20-2007
Make an option of CASH, or CP or TP.

Say 75k or 1 CP or 1 TP

Means teams low in cash or an utter mess due to NMRs or bad management when a new guy comes in, at least he should have resources to try put 11 fit player son the field.

Anyone else with thoughts ??? rolleyes.gif

How about 10k per EL.

e.g. so 50k for 5 EL boost

Upto maximum 100k for 10 EL boost.

Simple as that. SESL/goodluckicon.gif

(Quote from GM)

I like the eveness of this proposal (8ELs to add to the normal 8ELs the player would normally get at the end of a session) for the cost of 1 TP, 1 CP, or 80k - manager's choice. Players must still be on a -EL rating at the end of a session before any additions can be made.

It can always be reviewed later if over used or is undervalued etc.

I am not in favour of paying different amounts for different EL restorations, or it might be used almost weekly to bring back to life some players who have just slipped into a minus situation.

So lets make a decision then. Can always change it!

I would go with:-

"I like the eveness of this proposal (8ELs to add to the normal 8ELs the player would normally get at the end of a session) for the cost of 1 TP, 1 CP, or 80k - manager's choice. Players must still be on a -EL rating at the end of a session before any additions can be made"

With random injuries set to feature perhaps more prominently in season 19,maybe time to bump this topic up again as a reminder should your team get several players crocked.

A roster squad of 16 to 18 players may no longer be viable. Time will tell how the season pans out with new software tweaks.

RULE [D2.4] PHYSIO BOOST
The Idea of using a physio is to reduce the "down time" of a player.
A 2 game session adds +8EL to a player, ’Physio Boost’ will also add an additional +8EL so the recovery time is effectively halved.
Player must be on a -17 or worse EL rating at the start of a session before ‘Physio Boost’ can be used.
So for a cost of 1 TP, 1 CP, or 80k the player will get an extra EL Boost of +8 at the end of the session
Unrestricted use within above rules during season 19
To be reviewed before season 20

Lesser club DUM paid 1TP for a Physio Boost to their top GK last session.

I voted to scrap the Magic Sponge but how I wish I could use it now. Mike Smith on -12 is ineligible for the Physio Boost. The very early injury meant Derek Ure played 90 minutes rather than sit on the subs bench and Craig Dargo played 90 minutes rather than just 60. That's another 8 EL wasted.

I guess I can't complain as I've been very lucky with injuries this season.
