For me the biggest problems are three fold; frequency, quality and scope. As there will always be a reward system to encourage press, I don't want to really talk about that. The main problem with press is quality and scope. Obviously what we all want is good press, not neccessarily long press. It is difficult for the editor to effectively judge the quality of the press.

What if we had a voting system. Perhaps managers could vote for the three best press releases of the previous week? Managers could get press points related to the votes they got? perhaps give a TP at the end of the season to all managers that voted in every week. What I'm hoping for is quality, funnier, and wider scope in the press (managers are more likely to vote if their team is mentioned).

Voting for press is a fair idea, but someone would need to volunteer to take on this role as I am struggling to deal with incoming email as it is.

I do think any press more than a page long is waffle, with only aim to try and get the 50k award. I imagine most managers don't bother to read lengthy press, especially if it just re-hashes the match commentary of a match.

General observations, ref bashing and manager abuse would win my vote each week! tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Is the Blog ready to be inundated with team press releases?

How will reward be administored?

Will it be a weekly cash boost to teams' bank?

Will GMcD blog posts be overlooked when press hits blog?

And does anyone care anyway !!??

NAI boss- 03-20-2006
I like a press summary report emailed, but happy to 'move with the times' and see press on blog board too.

50k a fortnight maximum payout then it appears.

Mine should count double.

Press releases dwindled a little in recent weeks.

I think with SESL Cup starting up soon, that should rekindle interest and competitive bantering. Coupled with league season run-in, as the gap between promotion spot (4th) and relegation (13th) is not that huge in some divisions.

Participation (aka "press") money awarded today. True, the cats found many offerings worth 10-20k. Not many really worth more than 30k, and probably too generous with the 50k to MOT. (No offense, Dave)

SeslDotNet- 07-18-2006
If team press releases are to be posted here on forum, rather than Blog) from season 17, then this thread is a reminder that long winded waffle does not pay.

I'd guess Phil will see humour and originality as more likely to be rewarded perhaps.

Humour will NOT be rewarded...but humor will!

WeeBeardyBloke- 07-26-2006

What about Hummers?

Or Hummous?

Hammers are good too. They really nail the topic. Bang On.

GMcD. (getting his jacket and leaving).

I read on Blog today Dave is moaning about press award to MOT.
Swings and roundabouts Dave! SESL/header.gif

I remember it was stated before season started that the awards for pre and post match comments (that RR boss handed out I think) were being scrapped.
I agree some managers posted only for reason to get money and the lame joke comments were, well, LAME!

Nathan at DFA thought press still went on blog, so obviously some teething issues with this change of press to forum. Nathan does some great match comments though (pre and post match) so keep up the good work Nathan.

Ok so The Participation bonus is purely for Forum postings right ? SESL/awall.gif
Now I know I will not moan again ...
For at least 5 minutes anyway! SESL/tongueout.gif

Stricter than than, Friend Dave.

The bonus is for press release postings only.
