Season 14 plans

Thanks for all the input on the "Next Season" topic.

Here is a summary of likely changes starting season 14.

- 400 team skill level rule scrapped for 2 seasons, and then reviewed with hope to scrap rule altogether

- Play-offs to encourage more mid table meaningful games.
D1 11th will play D2 6th
D1 12th will play D2 5th
D2 11th will play D3 6th
D2 12th will play D3 5th

- Bosmans scrapped for 2 seasons then reviewed.
Perhaps make apprentices cheaper though to encourage youth?

- Auction players offered with reduced SL

- Morale Bonus (that effects gate receipts) will be ammended to all D1 teams get some bonus on sliding scale for entire season.

- Scheduling of SESL Cup may alter.

update 23 Feb 05:

Pre season tourneys will be replaced by the CECIL Cup played in first half of season.
Div 2 and Div 3 teams will have a pre qualifying round of 2 games so get 2 games extra gate receipts. Then it will be knockout over 2 legs, with 1 leg played at a time after each league session on a Saturday. No EL boost for knocked out teams (we dont reward failure in SESL!)

All Div 1 teams will get a morale bonus so they earn slightly more from gate receipts each Div 1 league game. This helps resolve issue of teams deliberately not trying to get promoted to Div 1 as seen as little incentive previously.

I propose Div 3 get a 200k reduction in 0/5 apprentice cost, and Div 2 a 100k reduction. Lower teams can build up youth and sell on for a profit to Div 1 if they wish (restrictions may apply if a team appears to become a feeder club with excess trading to same club)

Div 2 & Div 3 will have a combined auction for them only the same week as new CECIL Cup. This will be made up of approx 15 Bosman type players that should be able to be bought fairly cheaply with little money on the go at start of season.

League wide auctions will be tried for 2 seasons. Perhaps 15 items per auction.

Auction bidding format will likely remain as it is (thanks for all the great discussion on this - much was valid to change bidding to match MSWL league, but as Bishop said on forum - if you do not wish to over pay, then stagger your bids tactically)

What a great season 14.

Thanks to all the managers who participated and made it so enjoyable.

A remarkable end to the season - 3 teams tied on 53 points - with Rangers lifting the title on goal difference.
