I'm voting for seeded homefield advantage. I would suggest neutral semi final and final, just like the FA Cup, but seeding is used to bring teams through the Quarters already, so maybe random who is home in the quarters, with neutral semi and final.

Random home team just doesn't make any sense....

Phil,
In your American Football there is seeded home field to the Championship match. In Rugby there is seeded home field in some competitions that use a playoff system to decide the Champions. Super 14 being the most obvious. The top 4 at the end of the 13 game round robin go the playoffs with 1st playing 4th at home, and 2nd playing 3rd at home, and then the highest seeded team in the final has the homefield advantage.

Brian,
Maybe I'm just not understanding what is meant by "random home," because your post doesn't seem to help me at all.
"Random home" to me says that regardless of records, history, tables, prelims, etc., we're going to just flip a coin to see who gets home field advantage. That makes no sense to me. Perhaps I'm not on the same page there.
I understand how the NFL system works, being a season ticket holder, but there's no "random home team" in the playoffs. The top seeded team is home until the Super Bowl, and then it's a neutral site.

"Random Home" is how the cup competitions work in the UK, Phil - until the semi-final of the FA Cup sponsored by E-On anyway. I think the League/Milk/Coca-Cola/whatever cup is 2 legs for the 1st round and for the semi-final but not 100% sure on this.

Phil, it is not a method I favour in the SESL Cup, but I felt I should put up all the options if I was doing a poll.
In a Cup competition that does not have a league format start then single knock out match rounds are better staged at one of the grounds of the teams as neutral grounds are expensive to use. In the current format of the CECIL Cup the two leg system works.
In the SESL Cup, I would favour that the higher seeded teams should have home field advantage with two teams of equal seeding playing randomly at one of the two grounds.
