What strategies & tactics do you adopt when playing FM? Is there any basic formula that could help as a guiding principle for those of us who dont play it often enough to figure out the machines mechanics?

Is there anything you do as a matter of course, what things do you avoid, any other hints, tips or tricks?

Formation: 4-1-3-2 seems to work quite well.
You need a sold DMC though to make it work.

Also, set the assistant manager to do the team talks pre game and half time and after game. All his automated praise will raise team morale thru the roof, and saves you having to bother as this can get tedius after a while.

A happy team turns in to a winning team in FM. If a player is very low morale, stick him on bench and bring him on if up a couple of goals to try raise his morale (with a win bonus!).

A Spurs FM challenge could be an interesting one.

Could not do as bad as Martin Jol !

I prefer the old school 4-4-2 with the tempo set at slow and passing short.....seems to be working so far!
