More on THAT trade of CEL & DEV yesterday.

Alot of talk on forum, maybe too much talk.
So I shall add some balance (and more talk!)

DEV sends Arturo Lupoli (1/21 FW) to CEL for 247k, Adam Virgo (4/21 SW), Kenny Miller (4/24 FW)

Trade Value Guide:
DEV give 1740k
>
CEL give 247k, 610k, 790k

So 93k difference in value overall, which is negligible as worth just 5% of trade value.

No wonder CEL are selling Adam Virgo - he cost 1.5 million in real life a year ago, and has barely played for Gordon Strachan's Celtic team.

Regarding this sesl trade though - the high SL age 4 players are very useful on short term, and remember too that one of these high SL age 4 players may make a very useful age 5 Captain next season!

I'm pretty pleased with the trade. Adrian is right in that it's useful short term rather than long term and for my part was made for several reasons.

1. I have a chance of promotion - if I was lower down I wouldn't have bothered. The FW doesn't really affect my offence as Lupoli was going to be trained up to 25 anyway. However the extra defender means one of my current DF can play as MF from SL 16 and up which improves that area. It also means I don't have to worry about the 2:1 rule which was causing me headaches when I had to play two SL 11 MF and had FW of 28, 24 and 21 (and climbing).

2. The 4 TP I had marked for Lupoli is now available to trade (well 3 is).

3. Next season the 247k will come in useful (I would have asked for 100k more but didn't want to lose the trade). Also I will still have three age 2 players that will need most of the 35 CP I buy and a 4th one would just put a strain on the resources.

As for Celtic giving up on the league, well I disagree. All he's lost is a sweeper. If Dublin plays in defence then he's only lost 4 SL there (in a 6 man rotation). Assuming he was normally a midfielder then it just means Celtic are a bit weaker there, but Bill will just play lower SL players in the cup games against the weaker sides and still play strong in the league until there's no chance. And if he fails to catch Hiberbian - well he's weel prepared for next season.

As for his TP. He has 5. Marshall and Zurawski, both 1/24 with 8 PU would only get 1 each anyway so Lupoli will get 3.

I have noticed this deal seems to have caused a stir, with some people questioning it.

Steve has made my point very well, but heres mt two pence worth anyway.

From my point of view I wanted to get in a younger player and without having vast amounts of cash, I had to trade in other players. If I wanted to get any value from using the age 4 players I had to do it before the trade deadline as next season they would have had little monetry value and been squad players anyway.

Ok, the total fee might be a bit high in terms of the what seems to be the going rate of age 1 players using the figures from the auctions but using the trade value guideline sheet, I have actually done not to badly???

Yes there has been a short term loss in SL, but with a little bit of squad adjustment it hopefully won't effect the team that much. Dublin was made up to SL 20 after last weeks matches, so I have lost only minimal SL from defence. I might have to pick and chose my midfield accordingly, but while there's still a chance, I havent given up on the league just yet SESL/wink.gif

I have the coaching resources to make all three of my age 1 players decent players for next season and build up the rest of the squad, so it's not all doom and gloom here at Celtic you know.

Good to hear some positive talk. Fighting talk even.
I dont mind who wins Div 1, but its not healthy for a team to dominate so I hope HIB lead can be clawed back a little in coming couple of sessions to keep Div 1 like how I like my gals.
(interesting and tight at the top!)

Guess i have to squash that little bit of fighting Talk Bill has, then i can work on keeping the SESL at HIBS SESL/clap.gif

I dont see anything wrong with one team having a good lead at the top of the table (unless its one of the old firms)
I have just had a really good season and i have had alot of luck with a few games going my way, last season i had the worst luck in all the 50/50 games

Oh and i think the trade Dev and Cel did suxed , now it means Rangers and Celtic are getting younger and it will be hard for Hibs next season SESL/awall.gif
