SESL/fingersXicon.gif It has been a treat to be currently participating in the Olmec Cup.
There definitely is a challenge involved when you are facing a team that has several +30SL players, etc. As of this moment, MOT has 2 wins and 2 losses and is in 2nd place in their grouping with a Liverpool side ahead of them.
Should any SESL manager get the opportunity to participate in the future, I highly recommend that you do.

Has it got a web site for reference?

Good luck to MOT and DFA in Olmec Cup play.

I noticed one team has about 550 team Skill Level? Whats that all about?
And what league does that super team play in? Crazy. SESL/awall.gif

Who Celtic? We are in Division 1....

I assume you mean MMF, Memphis Mudflingers in SFLSL? Of course each league is different and that league uses contracts rather than just age to dictate how long a player hangs around for. Interestingly, though it is Psychos(h)occer teams that have the better average SL as that league has more cash, more SL and fairly gentle ageing.

Nice to see that I'm in the running for Golden Boot (as a player not a manager of course!).

To keep track as to what is happening with the Olmec Cup go to "The Manager" pbem site and there is an Olmec Cup Link on it since their Commish, Adam Meney is hosting this version of the Olmec Cup.
Good luck to Mike in the Olmec Cup.

Well, this Friday we will have our last matches and both Len's and my team have realistic chance of making it to the next round. May not have the best chance to lift the trophy because of the enormous total SL of the teams there but like Len has said, we did have fun there and gained the experiences.

We could rotate for teams participating in the Olmec Cup and every manager can get to experience the Olmec Cup. That's about it. Hope things go your way Len and we cruise together to the next round. SESL/awhack.gif

What is to stop our Commish sending in a "special high SL" roster to Olmec Cup for MOT & DFA? SESL/cool.gif

The la-*test*-('") result of the Olmec Cup is just out. And unfortunately, DFA is out of the competition as well.

It looked as if we are going to make it, but a 2-0 loss while our closest rival 1-0 win have ended our hope.

Sadly but probably part of a tactic, Yoav's with his team has decided that they want to get rid of DFA as soon as possible and played a weaker team. SESL/abigcry.gif

But on the other hand, we ought to congratulate Len on getting to the quarter final. He is SESL last hope of lifting the trophy now.

Michael, Sorry about that. sad.gif

I was in front of the computer all night and fell a sleep while sitting in my chair facing the keyboard on the morning, just before I was going to do the MID's lineup (I was that exhausted).
So NMRing really got my opening 11 to be real stinkers. SESL/awall.gif

Don't ever let Yoav try represent SESL in Olmec Cup! SESL/sunshine.gif

Our FLATNZ MLB team did not advance, but did pull the surprise upset of MOT in preliminary play. At least I can compete with MOT on some level!

One of the drawbacks of OLMEC play is the great disparity among the teams from different leagues. Adam tries to add some players to the weaker squads to balance things out somewhat, but it really doesn't do the trick entirely. The game is much fun and and interesting concept, but my opinion is that it will not reach maximum potential until the teams face EL, SL and DP consequences back home in their own leagues following the OLMEC Cup games. As it is, you can basically play T-11 regardless of EL and incur whatever DP and it has no real downside after the conclusion of the match.

If you have the opportunity, though, check it out.

yoav- 02-19-2005
Middlesbrough's EL management on the home league matches this season (SaSo) was directed to allow each and every one of my T11 players to have at least 6 EL for Olmec appearances.
So as far as I am concerned, I take that competition very seriously (minus the glitch on the last round SESL/awhack.gif ) and it does impact my play on the original league (resting players as mentioned above), even though the impact is pre-Olmec matches and not post-Olmec as Phil suggested above.

But in any case, why don't you suggest these ideas in front of Adam Meney? See what he thinks cool.gif
