Vital win for Newcastle yesterday,
but maybe suggests Arsenal are not the team they were.

Parker seemed to be coming on to a game.... until he has injured ofcourse.

QueensPark- 12-28-2005
Newcastle are so hot and cold.

Given the large fan base that back the team so well, they deserve a top 6 team, for sure.

Talking of 'Given', the GK Shay Given is a far better player than I first thought!

Without Michael Owen, Newcastle are so COLD. SESL/tongueout.gif

Great start for the new year SESL/awall.gif if you had to pick two players NOT to get injured it would be Owen and Given....

At least in goal we have an able deputy... it will be interseting to see what happens during the January transfer window to "fix" our attacking frailties though.

I wonder if Souness and Shepherd SESL/jerkit.gif can get out of this mess?

Gabbarelli- 01-06-2006
I read on the BBC website that Souness is pleading for more time from the Chairman - slippery slope time!

Told you he was duffer! SESL/clap.gif

Mr Souness

Your Newcastle managers' jacket hangs on a shooglie peg.....

Had to use t'internet for translation of Scottish terminology...

...but there's no doubt about it, looks like Chop Souey in the very near future!

Ironic that the team he left, who we beat 3-0 on the weekend he joined us (from them) have been transposed into a top half team (from bottom where he had them!) without spending vast sums of money - just by managing to organise and co-ordinate a system that their players can work to!

The frustrating part for the typical fan is that in any other walk of life, if you fail at your job you get sacked - no huge payoff, just yer P45. This fella is gonna walk away with a £3million severance payment SESL/awall.gif -- the sort of money we can only dream of if we win the lottery.

...but then again, what about the gross incompetence of the fella who chose him and handed him such a contract SESL/jerkit.gif

Celtic- 01-22-2006
Gossip from my Parkhead insider is that MON will be the new Newcastle gaffer and one of his first signings will be Stan Petrov, thats why Petrov's contract talks have broke down.

Dunfermline- 01-23-2006
MON = Martin O'Neil? This would explain why Souness has stayed so long in the job as they wait for Martin O'Neil to decide he is ready to return to football matters. Not sure he would ever win anything at Newcastle and similarly why Petrov would want to go there when he is guaranteed a medal of some sort each year at Celtic.

Souness has spent 50million in last 12 months! Even with injuries, there can only be one item on the menu now.....

Mr Souness... YOU'RE GONE!

.

PS, maybe he will take on the England international vacancy now.....

Hearts- 02-08-2006
The Newcastle Chairman (Mr Shepard?) seems to be taking all the flak from the toon fans on the radio phone-ins. He needs chopped too then!

Not sure what type of manager would take on the Newcastle job, as little chance of any glorious success there. Its about 30 years since they last won a trophy, yet their fans are convinced they are a big club.

Dunfermline- 02-12-2006
Isn't it odd how Newcastle results picked up the moment Souness was out the door!

Trying very hard not to bite (especially at Hearts managers comment SESL/Moonie.gif )

...intrigued to know how you define a big club though...

Hearts- 02-16-2006
In todays Deloitte Touche World Football Rich List, Newcastle are 12th!

Seems to be based on turnover of 87 million, so its fair to say Newcastle ARE a big club with a big fan base also.

Les- 02-18-2006
I'm so pleased I didn't bite too quickly and get all argumentative (which seems to becoming much more the norm these days!), now that we are in agreement that potentially we [Newcastle] are (potentially) a big club that is massively under-achieving, I would just like to add...

With the right management structure in place we should be challenging the top 3 or 4 teams as the norm! The guy selecting the manager failed and HAS to get it right this time.

It is obvious he wants Shearer as boss.

It could work...
...it could backfire on our local hero big-style!
But its a helluva a risk.

Chelsea seemed to get it right. A strong proven manager = results!
We should apply the same formula!

BTW, Shearer has announced his final game.
His testimonial (all proceeds to charity) will be at home to Celtic in May.
