Luis Figo coming to the Toon on a similar deal to Kuivert...
Parker signing has gotta be good for the both parties... SESL/clap.gif
Emre expected to be confirmed in next few days...
Jenas to Man U appears to be a rumour with no substance...
Andy Johnson (Palace) still being linked...

....still no idea where Bellamy is supposed to be going - although Everton have been given permission to talk to him!

Falkirk- 06-20-2005
I thought we were talikng carTOONs then, as for Newcastle, not really that keen on either of the transfers that have been made / lined-up.

Parker, didn't play enough, which suggests he just is "that top notch".

Figo, never really thought that much of him, along the lines of Kluivert - over-rated.
Emre, to be honest, don't know anything about him.

Jenas to Man Ure, doesn't really make sense to sell someone who was your captain for part of last season at such a young age but then I suppose that Souness getting rid of the Robson signings!!

And as for AJ, I would have thought you would have gone for someone "a bit more known" but then he would be the best signing out of the lot, in my opinion.

Craig- 06-28-2005
If you had a choice of Souness as manager, or the return of Bellamy to the 1st team -

- what would you chose? SESL/wink.gif

Queens Park- 06-28-2005
I'd pick neither SESL/athumbsdown.gif

But then I'm not a toon fan...

Laurent Robert, 30, told The Sun that the Magpies would have lifted the 2005 Uefa Cup "if Souness had the intelligence to see what was going on".

"If he keeps going like he has, he'll get fired and deserve it," he added.

Robert also criticised Souness on the eve of the Uefa Cup quarter-final second-leg defeat against Sporting Lisbon.

He was dropped for that game and was in and out of the team for the remaining Premiership games.

"I can see only a lot more pain for the players, the fans and the chairman while he remains manager"

"He put kids in the team and left me on the bench to annoy me. He's just a child," Robert added.

"He made a personal matter out of our disagreement and, by punishing me, he punished the whole team.

"I'm sure Alan Shearer told Souness he had to play me - but nothing happened.

"He will get nowhere screaming at players and slamming doors."

Robert also revealed that he was not alone in his dissatisfaction, while in the Newcastle dressing room.

"Other members of the team aren't happy with him, though they don't have the courage to speak out. But I've never been afraid of anyone," he said.

"We finished last season so badly that, towards the end, I just laughed at him.

"And I can see only a lot more pain for the players, the fans and the chairman while he remains manager."

So everything looks good for Newcastle next season then!!! SESL/jester.gif

Refreshing to read quotes from a player being so honest.
Players normally talk in the same old 'cliches'.

Souness is worth listening to at times, but maybe his style of man-management does not suit everyone!

Souness has until December I think to get things right at Newcastle, or face the boot. By then, Rangers could be out of Europe and Souness will likely be linked with a move back to Glasgow.....

However, Inter Milan's Turkey international Emre Belozoglu would be a great signing for Newcastle if it happens later this week.

Newcastle to be taken over, is the rumour again today.

How is it so many English Premiership sides are falling in to the hands of foreigners these last few years?

Are there not rules in big leagues like Spain and Italy to prevent non-nationals being in control of the big clubs???

Les- 07-27-2005
Rumoured leader of the takeover is former full back, now multi-millionaire, Ray Ranson. Don't think any Toon fan would have any problems with football people (with ties to the club) taking the club forward - although if it turns out to be a Glazier type scenario I think it will be met with a lot of opposition.

taking the club forward

Or he could take them 'full back' SESL/tongueout.gif

BTW - was he a Newcastle player? (pardon my ignorance)

Les- 07-30-2005
He certainly was Yoav - although its going back a few years now. Was never one of the higher paid stars - I understand he has done 'very well' in business since leaving football.

Craig- 08-12-2005
Michael Owen for Newcastle rumour is gathering pace again today.

He would be a revelation at Newcastle and would start every game (which would not happen if Owen went to Man Utd)

Gabbarelli- 08-12-2005
Well they desperately need a striker, they only have a not fully fit Shearer to play up front tomorrow.

Les- 08-13-2005
He'd be great here. But I bet he wishes one of the "successful" sides would come in for him.

Being out of Europe would mean less matches for him so that could work in his favour in world cup year!!!

We can afford the fee and his wages but he has to realise we never win anything! (You can tell I'm full of pre-season optimism!!!!)

Alloa- 08-16-2005
Michael Owen for Lyon it says now.

Maybe the boy Owen is not as good as he thinks he is, as seems to be struggling to get himself a decent club to play for.

Rumour in our local press today is that Newcastle are considering whether to apply to join the SPL...

...Freddie Shepherd has promised he will make us back into a Top 6 team again SESL/wink.gif

(... in all honesty unless the club pull their socks up and ACT like a big club and buy some quality strikers we would struggle in the Northern Alliance let alone any other league SESL/wink.gif )

(Thank goodness for Sunderland propping the Premiership up... do these games count to their existing record from when they went down as consecutive losses... if so I think thats 22 straight premiership defeats SESL/tongueout.gif )
