If a player only needs to play for 45 minutes to be trained why can he not be trained twice in 90 minutes ?? rolleyes.gif

Not that I want to change the rules was just wondering . . . . .

Good point, although i'm pretty sure it's because players would be Trained or Coached to quickly, and hence there would be less progression in the season.

I figured that the original hard and fast rule was, that a player had to play 90 mins to be coached.
I imagine that they then changed it from a full 90 minutes to only 45 mins, to allow some EL recovery and player rotation to occur.

I wonder if it's also linked with captain's bonus. I imagine some manager's captains would only play selected matches if they had to play a full 90 to get their, hoped for, bonus.

When we originally laid out the plan for coaching and training players many, many years ago, there was a concern that a manager would have to play a weak player for a full game in order to complete the process. That seemed neither fair or very realistic. Youthful players often see game action in real life, though that time is generally restricted to "garbage time" or portions of games where the team could "absorb" the impact of the training process. This was especially true with GK's. Can you imagine having to play your SL 5 GK for a full 90 minutes to gain an SL when your opponent and everyone else within shouting distance of the league knows it is coming? The "45 minute rule" allows you to "hide" the player while increasing SL. The idea from the outset, however, was to allow 1 SL increase per game. It made sense to reduce the requirement to gain the point, but no sense to then take the next step to "double up" and let someone gain 2 SL in a single match. That was never part of the plan.

From one who was there....
