SeslDotNet- 07-21-2006
Final FM06 challenge for next few months is going to be the Ultimate FM Challenge.

Win 3 titles in 3 different countries - one team in each of Spain, Germany then England. But not by managing any of the 'big 3' teams from each nation!

Start in Spain with a team like Atletico Madrid and try win title. Realistically give yourself 3 seasons. You CANNOT manage any of the big 3 - Real Madrid, Valencia, nor Barcelona.

If you are struggling, you can move whenever you want to other clubs or leagues, but once you win a league title at a club, you must resign that summer and move to another country (GER or ENG).

You must also be manager of club for the whole season they win the title in (no taking over potential title winners 5 games from end of season!).

Teams exempt are 'big 3' from each nation:-
SPAIN - Real Madrid, Valencia, Barcelona
GERMANY - Bayern Munich, Dortmund, Shalke
ENGLAND - Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal.

We can set up individual forum threads for screen prints of your title successes.

And questions - ask Gaberelli as it was mainly his idea!
Good luck.

Good stuff!

This should be a long lasting one, and one which won't kick you out if you get sacked by a club, you can simply move onwards and upwards as the SESL phrase goes.

Don't mind answering any questions on it, by PM or by posting on this thread.

Offical start date intended from August onwards, however as I am out of St Etienne challenge I will start now!!

And as ALO boss has completed an unsurpassed treble with St Etienne, I doubt many others will be able to emulate that feat - so feel free to move onto the new challenge whenever you are ready.....

If you apply for a managers job they let you delay your decision on the job until the end of the season! So worth applying for those jobs early incase you win the title, you can then leave and accept the job you had applied for!

Saves spending the summer on the dole after winning a title! SESL/clap.gif

I have started with Atletico Madrid - going extremely well so far.

Major signings - Hatem Trabelsi DR for £4m from Ajax, and Stelios Giannakopolous AM RC from Bolton for £5.5m.

Look out for a wee guy in the U18's if you manage this club the headline that drew my attention was "Classy Potato on form for At. Madrid U18's". Yep, he is actually called Potato! SESL/goodluckicon.gif

Great to see Gabbarelli chipping in with useful info already. SESL/clap.gif

.....i'll get me coat!

OK, midway through the season and Atletico are really motoring.

Won my first 10 matches on the trot, begun the season with a 3-0 win at home v Barca - a Fernando Torres hat-trick - he is awesome.

New signings Trabelsi and Giannakopolous playing superbly. And the likes of Maxi Rodriguez and Martin Petrov are superb attacking options.

Title number 1 may be not far away!! Perhaps we should start a thread for each country, to put screen dumps on as any title wins are gained - hopefully I will be able to post a Spanish title win shortly.....

Hatem Trabelsi DR for £4m from Ajax - seems a good signing.

I just booted up my game, and Torres may be tricky to hold on to after a couple of seasons. There perhaps could be a rule that we cannot take half our old squad with us each time we move clubs. How about allowing any player we sign to be poached to our next club - that seems best fair play policy. Leave existing At Madrid players when you move on to manage a new club.

Seems fair enough with me.

Think the patch should juts take care of itself if you tell it the right directory where your FM 06 is.
But whilst we're on the subject of patches for the game, wont that have an effect on the outcome of the challenge? might be useful if everybody downloaded the latest patch befpre starting or perhaps just went from the original game maybe? Or do we reckon it wont make much difference anyway?

SeslDotNet- 07-24-2006
Everyone should start this major challenge from the original FM06 game. If you have advantages of patches and tactic downloads, then it would only make any success a tiny bit hollow. A level playing field is needed.

As transfers are currently updating daily. best not worry about patches until FM07 is released.

Richard B- 07-24-2006
alas i will not try to get the downloaded patch working and shall commence with my attempt at this challenge....Tottenham hotseat awaits

Gabbarelli- 07-24-2006
Title number 1 in the bag with Atletico Madrid, and a move to Werder Bremen also confirmed for S2.

My game is up to date with the latest offical patch from Sports Interactive - believe that one was released in Jan-06.

If anybody honestly thinks that gives me an unfair advantage, I suggest they start using that patch! (although going by my record in recent FM challenges I think my point is proved that it provides no advantage whatsoever - ie sacked at St Etienne)

And you can bet your bottom dollar I ain't gonna restart after doing a whole season already!

(it won't make my first bit of FM success feel even a teeny weeny bit hollow either!)
