I recall Mark saying this was already suggested, but what about having a mentor system for new managers? New managers could have one or two experienced managers (Ideally two to give a balanced view) to address all the Q&As and help them in the first season with advice.

I would be more than happy to help out. I have already offered my services to new managers in the past!

STE_Ricky- 06-17-2004
i dont mind helping out too if we think that systems really needed...

SeslDotNet- 06-17-2004
Yes, its a good idea. Robin has already helped a few out, and one or two others occassionally help newbies too.

(I heard CEL were no help at all to ELG though!).

Gabbarelli- 06-17-2004
I mentored ELG at the start, until I realised the guy was a hopeless case and had absolutely no management talent whatsoever.

As you may notice, my ending of this arrangement has led to bitterness on ELG's side..... rolleyes.gif

The ELG press is always a good read! Can't remember the last CEL press - sounds like CEL_guy in huff as he aint winning the league again?

ELG have started hitting a few goals lately though, no? Has CEL's Henrik Larsson secretly joined ELG after Larson's Euro 2004 exploits!?

Gabbarelli- 06-17-2004
ELG press, ELG press you say?????

An ELG press release is as rare as Dado Prso playing a match without being booked for diving!! ohmy.gif

Elgin_Boss- 06-17-2004
Sounds like someone is trying to shame me into doing some press since I've not done one for a few weeks. biggrin.gif

I think CEL man's lack of retorts to my recent press say a lot! Commish - the man was a bumbling baffoon when he tried to offer 'advice'. I got shot of him quicker than Nuno Capucho & Emerson on their way to the bank with their weekly wage pack!

As you can see ignoring the advice of CEL manager has already started to pay off - his meddling in my affairs only hindered our progress last season (when he told me to play stall in every match with 4 players up front!)

Now, instead of looking at potential mid-table mediocrity we are in the promotion spots!

As for CEL man - since my arrival on the scene his reign at CEL has taken a turn for the worse - it now looks like it could be two trophyless seasons at the helm.

Tick tock, tick tock! biggrin.gif

SeslDotNet- 07-05-2004
With ELG heading for promotion, maybe ELG should now be helping CEL out with tips!?

CEL falling out with ELG above.

no wonder CEL have still to get any votes in Manager of the Season!

Hello Tyron,

I can help you a bit if you'd like. I guarentee that after taking in my advise you won't get any worse wink.gif just kidding.

Here is your roster:

Fraser Spiers 2 29 GK -3 8 2 180 0 0 0 4 11 0 1 6
Ross Bremner 5 5 GK 8 18 3 270 0 0 0 18 30 0 0 0
Aaron Hughes 3 23 DF -1 16 4 360 0 1 2 0 0 0 0 9
Hammish McTavish 0 17 DF 10 8 2 90 0 0 1 0 0 0 1 10
Barry Smith 4 10 DF -35 12 3 262 1 1 2 0 0 1 0 5
Ian Murray 4 10 DF -1 8 5 405 0 1 4 0 0 0 0 0
Terry Kidd 5 4 DF 0 4 3 270 1 0 2 0 0 0 0 0
Lewis Vale 0 19 DM 10 0 5 233 2 0 4 0 0 0 1 10
Scott Anderson 5 8 DM 6 4 4 296 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 2
Jamie Watt 1 25 MF 10 8 2 90 0 1 2 0 0 0 1 10
Stuart Gray 1 22 MF 1 4 3 180 0 1 2 0 0 0 1 10
Darren McAllister 3 15 MF 8 8 4 315 1 1 2 0 0 0 0 6
Mark Chisholm 4 12 MF -6 8 5 365 3 0 6 0 0 0 0 1
David McElhoes 1 25 WG 9 8 3 194 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 10
Gary Speed 3 21 WG 4 12 2 180 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 8
Robbie Brown 4 19 WG 1 12 3 270 0 0 2 0 0 0 0 8
Jamie McQuilken 3 8 WG -7 12 5 450 0 0 4 0 0 1 0 0
Mike McKenzie 2 33 FW 0 8 3 199 1 0 3 0 0 0 1 8
Barrie Stephen 3 29 FW -2 16 4 341 3 1 4 0 0 0 0 6

Fraser is a good goal keeper, so it would be a good idea to start training an apprentice next season.

Hughes and McTavish are good defenders and with the help of Vale the DM they will form a good basis for your defense.

Watt and Gray are excellent MFs, they both can become true star players. McAllister still has a reasonable half a season to play.

Your Wingers section is spectacular, so you can afford playing Early cross alot.

The only thing to say about your forwards is this - WOW
Mike McKenzie 2\33 FW is probably the best forward in the league and Barrie Stephen 3\29 FW is in very good shape. Coach this couple to the max and they will socre plenty of goals next season.

From looking at the number of minutes your player played I would say that the biggest obstecle for Deveronvale this season was the fact that the star players played too little time and the weaker players were given way too much playing time. Also the team was run by a croock biggrin.gif (Kruk)

Hope this helps a bit. You might wanna ask Cel guy for a few pointers, it seem to have done interesting things for Elgin smile.gif

Cheers,
Yoav
