Welcome to MyFootballClub

For the first time in football history, fans have the opportunity to buy and then take control of a professional football club – both on and off the pitch.

Every MyFootballClub member will have an equal say in team selection, player transfers and the running of the club.

Members will own the club through their MyFootballClub Trust, and together they will attempt to guide their football club to success.

50,000 have paid £35 so far, and a club is to be bought within next 4 weeks apparently!

I signed up for this. SESL/clap.gif

Really not sure how much say we will genuinely have, but gives a real-life football team interest I suppose.

I voted for Nottingham Forest, however I suspect a more realistic option will be a struggling English League Two team.

If over 50,000 fans who have paid up, they gonna have a £2 million kitty to get 51% stake in a club.

I've joined up already too. I hope though the team they go for is one in the conference with no previous league experience. That way we create all the history.

I'm tempted but I'm concerned about the numbers. The idea itself is great...

With £7.50 of the £35 fee going to the admin of the site rather than the buying of a club, players etc.. that's just short of £400,000 raised to date (with over 53,000 members for 'someone'. That's a fair amount of turnover and presumably they will be an "equal" shareholder just like everyone else? But they'll have a bit of cash in their backpocket - no complaint with this as its their idea but it seems a lot of money for the "admin"? (Anyone else think more than 20% for admin is excessive?)

Any IT guru's out there give an indication how much work/cost would be involved in getting a similar website up and running to invest in a northern team? Doesn't cost much to set up a Limited Company (less than £100!) - perhaps its a venture we could investigate an offshoot from SESL?

This story has made the Sun newspaper today.

Les raises a fair point on admin fee.
I guess there are legal people, solicitors, accountants, as well as admin and web hosting to be paid from that.

I think this is an amazing idea, however i wont be joining! for a number of reasons,

1: i need all the pennies i can get for beer tokens! student loans arent what they used to be

2: would any players/managers take the club serious?! technically there would be 50,000 chairmen and im sure Matin Jol would agree 1 is more than enough!

3: they are buying an english side, something similar with a scottish side would really get my plums pumping.

I guess an English Conference side is most realistic option.

Time will tell ! SESL/goal.gif

"In a few weeks' time we plan to name our chosen football club...
Going public will give the supporters of the proposed club time to familiarise themselves with, and hopefully appreciate, the MyFC model.
Our members will go through the same process with their football club."

Ebbsfleet United FC been chosen.

9th in Conference, so just 1 promotion away from reaching the English football league, for first time.

Ebbsfleet live game on Setanta Sports last night. Decent 1st half, and they got a 2-1 away win.

Standard of football in conference is comparible to lower SPL level I think at times.

Has the 'deal' been finalised yet. Are the members making live decisions?
