Looks like NO european football at all for Celtic after that drubbing by the Slovakians... 5-0 there can't be any way back.
And going out at this stage means NO eufa cup spot either...
...long season ahead?

Strachan must take the blame for persisting in fielding has-beens like Alan Thompson and Neil Lennon. Why? There were able players on the subs bench.

And it is quite an achievement to have made that defence even WORSE than last seasons! You can see clearly why Bayern Munich backed out of buying Bobo Balde!

There was a guy on radio this morning asking why a club of the standing of Celtic appointed Gordon Strachan.

Strachan completely destroyed Coventry and after inheriting a good passing team in Southampton set about destroying them too. OK, he got to a cup final, but ultimately he took Southampton to a relegation struggle.
Tactically, Strachan was a disaster. And given Celtic's pre-season and now a 5-0 European humiliation - tactically Strachan IS a disaster.

(oh, but his interviews were quirky and the press loved his quotes, so thats OK then!)

The Rangers v Celtic game on August 20th will make or break Gordon Strachan as Celtic boss.

Strachan has a decent squad, but does he have the managerial know-how to get a winning performance in his 1st old firm game?

and what happens - both players in my quote from last month got red carded today!

to be honest, it may be a blessing is disguise as I'd like to see others given a chance in the team.

not fair to blame Strachan for the defeat to rangers today. we seem to be playing some football which should please those who criticised Martin O Neil's long ball game.
give Strachan at least a season and i think Celtic will do ok.

Great idea - give Strachan at least a season! So far he has got the better of Falkirk and Dundee United. That is all.

Strachan will be given a chance and time to turn it around, but he is getting his chance now and he's making poor decisions. Why was Hartson left on when Celtic when down to 10 men when he has no work rate ethic? Tactical changes were poor yesterday and when your new 2.5million Polish striker gets cheered on to the pitch by the opposition fans it is not a great sign!

But its a marathon, not a sprint..... SESL/wink.gif

Some good points there Commish...

Celtic looking better now that Strachan has had a bit of time, and that Polish striker who was cheered on by rivals fans has begun to play a decent part in that.

Big test number 3 for Strachan on Saturday though, he failed his first two away to Artmedia and Rangers - 3rd time lucky?

While Roy Keane is yet another "has-been", this signing has to be applauded I'd think.

Is that why Roy Keane signed with Celtic to compete with Motherwell, Dunfermline and Livingston for beleaguered CIS league cup, while Rangers are in the last 16 of the Champions League Cup?

If Gordon Strachan is a success in Cup competitions, then Gabbarelli must be basing this solely on the CIS league cup run that without question 3 out of the 4 are diddy teams remaining.

Managers in England do not take the league cup seriously, and if Celtic consider themselves a big club, this is quite ludicrous. Standards have not slipped that far at Celtic Park, have they Gabbarelli?

Strachan has precided over 2 history making cup exits in the last 5 months - in europe and now the main cup in Scotland earlier today.

Strachan has not got off to a flyer and he has not got on well with cup competition that matter either.

Gabbarelli may be embarrassed citing CIS cup (in huge letters) as a defence above.....
but not half as embarrassed as he should be over the defence Strachan has brought in this season.

Gabbarelli avoided to answer the question on Roy Keane (maybe he was embarrassed?),
but on the recent thread SPL v Premiership if seems Gabbarelli likes asking questions but not answering them there either.
Hidden agenda?
